I am licensed in DC and Maryland. I specialize in providing services to children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing academic, emotional, behavioral, and/or interpersonal challenges. I currently work in private practice, but also have extensive experience working in schools with students and their families. I have a strong background in assessment, and frequently complete evaluations for a variety of concerns including: screening for Attention-Deficits, assessing social and emotional functioning, exploring cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, clarifying symptoms and diagnosis, and aiding in treatment planning.
In therapy I work with individuals who struggle with a variety of issues, ranging from ADHD and Learning Disabilities, to depression and psychosis. I believe that individuals should not be defined by a diagnosis, and that effective therapy involves gaining a three-dimensional understanding of the person and their environment.
I feel strongly about the importance of providing a non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic environment in order to facilitate change and growth. I also believe that the most gratifying aspect of my work is building a rapport with those individuals who seem unreachable, misunderstood, or feel ambivalent about seeking help.
