I’m Ren Elliott, a Licensed Professional Counselor based out of Missouri, and I specialize in the treatment of trauma, depression, and anxiety, as well as assisting my clients through any kind of life transition or identity concerns. My approach is person-centered with an emphasis on self-compassion and breaking the shame cycle. No longer should you beat yourself down for the barriers you’ve dealt with; I want to help my clients start new cycles of being comfortable with themselves and be genuine to who they are as well as reclaim their personal sense of power.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the profession in both clinical and administrative roles for over 35 years. I have helped my clients deal with a myriad of issues including low self-esteem, pain and stress management, communication and relationship difficulties such as domestic violence, work-life balance, anger management, pregnancy, fertility issues, postpartum depression and other women's issues, parenting problems, foster care/adoption issues, chronic illness, Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain injuries, end of life issues, grief and loss, as well as LGBTQ issues.

I am an EMDR certified therapist with extensive experience treating PTSD including combat trauma, sexual abuse, and religious trauma.

It is important to me that all individuals feel welcome and supported during the counseling process and I am passionate about creating a safe and secure atmosphere to assist clients in overcoming whatever challenges they might be facing. I have worked with a diverse population of clientele, including teen and adult members of the LGBTQ + community, and have experience working in a residential setting to help children and their families overcome trauma, behavioral, and mental health issues. I also have experience working with adult individuals and couples to improve their relationships and overall well-being.

My job as a counselor is to help empower you and to work with you to find a solution to the problems you or your family are facing; whether it be anxiety, depression, or school/job related stressors, or you’re having relationship or family issues, I am here to help. I have worked with a wide variety of clients from the ages of 10 to 45 years old using individual, couples, and family therapy. Sometimes just having a judgement free place to talk can make all the difference when life stressors are impacting your daily functioning. I am offering telemedicine (on-line counseling) during this time of quarantine.

I love working with couples, teens, and adults. A majority of my practice consists of adults and teens who are suffering from depression, anxiety, or other life struggles. I also love working with couples who need to address: communication, healthy fighting skills, affair recovery, or grief due to the loss of a child or loved one.

I believe that simply being truly listened to can be powerful and transformative. Beyond that, many come to counseling to process past traumas and experiences, change behaviors, or develop new, healthier coping skills. While I use an eclectic approach to counseling that draws from techniques grounded in behavioral and existential theories, my ultimate goal is to tailor the experience for the unique person you are.
