You want to feel empowered to speak up but struggle to do so, whether in your relationships, at work or with big societal issues. You're tired of carrying the load, not only for yourself, but others as well. You're experiencing a life transition, loss/grief or desire a change in your life. Perhaps your unique stressors have piled up so high you no longer know yourself, your passion or your direction. Whatever your circumstances, you wake up each day feeling depleted and unable to get unstuck from the spiral. It's exhausting and you just want to feel better. You want to wake up with energy and hope for the day.

Your world, once so steady, has just been upended: a death; a health diagnosis; a crumbling marriage; any of the devastations that accompany midlife. Things are no longer the same, and your life's no longer quite what you thought it was. Waves of hard feelings keep coming at you, and all the things that usually help just aren't helping nearly enough right now. You're a smart, successful, and self-aware woman who always(!) knows what to do, but you're now left feeling profoundly disoriented. You've lost your sense of self, and, no matter how much you've got going for you, this is all feeling like entirely too much.

You’re holding everything together, but maybe it’s starting to feel like too much. Many of my clients are overwhelmed and feel stuck in cycles of burnout, anxiety, or self-doubt. They’re often used to managing everything, but underneath feel exhausted or “not enough.” Others come in struggling with relationship stress, life transitions, or feeling disconnected from themselves. Together, we explore patterns that no longer serve you, build practical tools, and create meaningful, lasting change so you can feel more like yourself again.

Relationships are hard! Is your family stuck in a rhythm of conflict that leaves you feeling misunderstood, underappreciated and alone? The disagreements are numerous and we rarely seem to find a resolution. Each argument chips away at the bond that used to be sturdy and resilient. Chronic conflict leads to ambivalence and resentment in the relationship, and eventually is destructive. That’s where I come in! I specialize in working with exhausted and burned out couples, families, and parents stuck in the cycle of conflict, self-doubt, and disconnection. My expertise is in couples, parenting, chronic illness/pain, & family conflict.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
