My goal is to always provide a place of acceptance and safety. I work to empower others to feel a sense of belonging and explore their potential. We are all two sides of the same coin; both strong and vulnerable, confident and insecure, emotional and logical. None of these are more important or valuable than the other, but all are intricate pieces that make up the human experience deserving of a voice and validation.

self esteem

Reaching out for help can be difficult and intimidating. The truth, however, is that we are all human and there comes a time in everyone's life where we need help. Maybe we just need a non-judgmental, open minded, trustworthy person that we can sit down and talk to. Someone that can really listen and help to sort out our feelings and our situation. Someone who can help to make better sense of what is going on and maybe even help to come up with a plan for changing it.

Change is about hope, about effort, about personal growth. My goal as I work with clients is to help facilitate that effort as they strive for the growth they desire. I believe change occurs by awareness and establishing one's authentic vision of who they wish to be--as an individual, a parent, a partner, a friend. I work collaboratively with clients to help them bring about positive changes in their lives that make sense to them, according to their personal values.

Life can feel hard or overwhelming and sometimes we can all use a little help. I have over 13 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and groups helping them navigate through various life issues they have faced. Some of my work with individuals has included dealing with anxiety, depression,
self esteem
and intimacy issues as well as working through traumatic experiences. In my work with couples, I have assisted in strengthening communication skills, finding areas for connection, and creating healthier boundaries and expectations, couple intimacy, sexual issues and dysfunction.

I enjoy helping people overcome the sexual and emotional hurdles that hold them back -- sex addiction, porn/fantasy addiction, infidelity/betrayal, body image issues, sexual abuse, spiritual guilt, low self-esteem, lack of sexual confidence, family of origin issues, trust issues, etc. I believe EVERYONE deserves to be a sexually connected, sexually satisfied partner. Healthy sexual relationships can heal a multitude of wounds and bond a couple together in an incredibly synergistic way if they are both willing to do the work to overcome their own fears, anxieties, hurts, and hang-ups.

Many of the individuals who come to see me are searching for a therapist they can connect with, someone they feel calm and comfortable around. Often times, this individual is searching for someone to meet them where they are at and to listen to their needs, their wants, their goals. Many have struggled with experiencing adverse events, or traumas, whether from childhood, teen years, or early adulthood; and now, may be struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, low self-esteem, broken relationships, etc.

For years I have assisted people on their journey of healing and growth with depression, anxiety,
self esteem
issues, trauma, relationships, family cohesiveness, and self awareness.
Check out our website for more details! I became a therapist because of a void that has persisted for decades. A void that allowed black and brown people to be left to find sometimes inadequate ways of dealing with real mental health issues. As you search you will find very few people that look like me that is in the profession of supporting mental health. This is unfortunate. Although my caseload is hugely diverse, what comforts my clients is I represent what in my field is lacking...a representative from a disenfranchised group of people helping to build up the individual, repairing relationships and making families whole.

I work with adults and adolescents in both individual and family counseling. My approach is eclectic and holistic. I believe the most effective change occurs when a person is balanced in the physical, mental, relational, emotional, and spiritual areas of life, therefore I assist clients in evaluating their life to see where there may be imbalance. Therapy and recommendations are focused on areas of imbalance.

We are in this together, but sometimes we encounter so many obstacles we lose sight of our purpose and passion. Whether it is stress, burnout, overwhelm, or just feeling stuck, we disconnect from what makes our life meaningful and relinquish the power of our voice in telling our story. It is easy to get caught up in letting others and our circumstances direct the narratives about our lives-whether they are parents, peers, partners, or oppressive systems that seek to diminish and dehumanize people.

I believe that simply being truly listened to can be powerful and transformative. Beyond that, many come to counseling to process past traumas and experiences, change behaviors, or develop new, healthier coping skills. While I use an eclectic approach to counseling that draws from techniques grounded in behavioral and existential theories, my ultimate goal is to tailor the experience for the unique person you are.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
