I have completed training in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, addiction, co-occurring disorders, MI, and I am a certified sex therapist.
*Currently adding people to my waiting list.* One thing I have noticed through years of practice (with both teens and adults) is a need to be heard. To have your experience validated can be a monumental moment for introspective growth. Whether it is processing deep seeded developmental trauma, or expanding your self-awareness, I am willing to aid you on your personal journey. I vow to: never give advice, never judge you, never pretend I know more than you, or try and "fix" you. You are not broken. I will be genuine, provide a safe space, and walk beside you during whatever life may bring. I look forward to working with you!

You’re finally seeking out the support you’ve been needing for… a while, to be honest. After the last couple years of chaos, stress, and overwhelming circumstances, you’re finally able to chisel out a little time for yourself - to actually prioritize YOUR needs for a change. It might feel risky to face your feelings and take a step toward shifting things in your life. It might feel impossible that things could ever change. I'm here to tell you it’s not impossible. Life can feel better when you’re actually feeling supported, understanding yourself in a deeper way, and working with a professional who prioritizes YOU.

Finding a therapist that makes you feel seen and connected can be an overwhelming task, especially when you've carried your pain alone for so long. When trauma occurs it and overwhelms our ability to cope, it can often intrude in the present moment long after the threat has passed. I am a trauma therapist and understand how the impacts of trauma can bring a human into significant internal and relational conflict. Whether your lived experiences have led you to struggling with depression, anxiety, intense emotion dysregulation, or substance use; I am here to carry it with you.

Are you seeking someone who understands suffering? Whether recent loss, painful trauma or a moment of deep personal crisis, you'd like someone who has been there and understands what it takes to stand up again. Fundamentally, counseling is a relationship. And for many, the first relationship you have ever had where someone listens without judgment, meets you with genuine appreciation, and gives with no strings attached. Together we will get a clear picture of what to do next, then we can introduce powerful rapid change methods backed by research and put you on a path to growth, well-being and more fulfilling work and relationships.

I use some of the latest neuroscience approaches for therapy such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART- Master Certified), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Memory Reconsolidation to help you find relief.
Today is a new day! Having someone to listen without judgment is a tremendous gift. It can remove the loneliness and despair that can happen when life gets to be too much to bear. Perhaps you've had therapy before but something's still missing. You've done everything you can think of or that your previous therapist told you. You are dedicated to your personal growth. You engage in regular practices and are committed to do whatever it takes to be your best self. Despite some real progress, the deeper relief you've been looking for hasn't occurred just yet.

Life can be overwhelming. Balancing relationships, work, parenting, physical health, mental health, and then finding time for “self-care” can feel impossible. However, just as the core strengthens as the muscles are worked - we have the ability to build our emotional muscle in balancing life. The tools I use come from Somatic Experiencing which is experiential and focused, but gentle. This modality supports connection between mind and body which leads to creating deeper awareness.

Trauma is identified as an event that a individual has processed as deeply painful and disturbing, causing lingering symptoms including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, self-harm, PTSD, dissociation, and somatic symptoms (such as body pain or illness).
Safety, trust, and empathy are foundational to any counseling relationship. As a professional who has also experienced trauma in her own life, I understand not only that foundation, but also the deep pain that comes with indescribable hurt. Many times, those who have experienced painful events, are unable to find the words to describe it. This is where I am able to help. I can bring peace, when the pain is too much for words. Your story is beautiful, and there is hope.

Down to earth and genuine in my approach, I provide general support, problem solving, and stress management for short-term issues and transitions, as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and somatic strategies for those addressing longer-term challenges such as anxiety disorders, depression and trauma.
My goal is for people to live their life optimally. My objective is help people adjust to and cope with whatever they have to deal with, external or internal, and make the changes they need to feel better. I have experience addressing mild to severe anxiety and depression in adolescents and adults, as well as general stress and life transitions. I hope to help you move forward and regain a more positive outlook. I have served in this field for nearly 20 years and am familiar and comfortable working with a very wide range of life stressors, relationship challenges, and mental health issues. Everyone is welcome.

Some of my clinical approaches include emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems, somatic experiencing and mindfulness-based practices.
My goal in counseling is to create a safe and collaborative environment in which an individual, couple or family can explore and make sense of how their inner experiences and relationship patterns are either restricting or fostering a greater sense of connection with themselves and others. I specialize in working with couples, adults, families with adult children, clergy or religious professionals impacted by childhood abuse and neglect, grief and loss, underdeveloped communication and conflict resolution skills, spiritual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, and divorce and remarriage.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
