I believe almost all problems are solvable. If you decide to see me for therapy, the first thing I'll probably ask is, "What's going on? Why have you come?" Perhaps you're having difficulty with a relationship or your struggling with a child or your weight. You may be trying to decide if you want to continue in a relationship or look for another job. Or you've noticed that you're drinking too much or getting too angry or obsessing. Maybe you're feeling anxious, depressed or lonely, and despite your best efforts, you can't seem to shake these feelings.

First, I would like to say welcome and congratulate you on taking the necessary steps to getting the care, attention and support you deserve! I personally know from previous experience that these first steps can sometimes feel the most difficult; but with encouragement, determination and perseverance, you will be revealed as the conqueror you already are!

People seek therapy for variety of reasons, ranging from difficulties with a specific life event or a general pursuit for greater purpose and connectedness. Psychotherapy offers an arena for self exploration unlike any other and can prove to be a profoundly moving experience. I work with individuals affected by trauma, difficulties in relationships, depression/post-partum depression, infertility, adoption, parenting, struggles in cultural adaptation and immigration, identity, self-esteem, sexuality, etc. Often I find that the most meaningful change comes from those who are open and willing to engage in the journey. The change you seek comes from you and will be our guiding force.

Confronting life’s problems is a painful process which most folks want to avoid. Unfortunately, avoiding the problems just results in more pain. I believe that learning to radically accept life as it happens helps us to manage and embrace the temporary distress that comes from life’s disappointments. When we learn to tolerate distress, we improve the quality of our lives. Improving our lives means that we exact peace and power during times of celebration and disappointment. It is my goal to validate my client's experiences while providing them the skills needed to fully embrace the peaks and tolerate the valleys of life.

I believe that therapy can, and should, get a little radical. This will mirror some of my approaches in our work. Taking the time and energy to do a deep dive into who we are, why, how to heal, to better ourselves and our world? To face trauma or loss? This is an amazing undertaking. I specialize in working with women/mothers/LGBTQIA, not limited to Depression, Anxiety, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, motherhood identity, parenting, relationships, sex(uality), and life changes. I also specialize in working with teens that struggle with Depression, Anxiety, identity, suicide ideation, LGBTQIA and questioning youth.

I am in training at the Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute, and offer psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
I believe that therapy is about feeling understood. My job is to give you this feeling in session with me, and to help make it an enduring feature of your life when you are not in the room. I do this by listening, with care and curiosity, to whatever you want to tell me, by pointing out the instances when you get in your own way, and by letting you know that, no matter how great the difficulty you are facing, we can explore it together.

As a marriage and family therapist, I empower individuals and couples to overcome hurdles and difficulties to improve their relationships and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. As a therapist I am collaborative, laid back, and yet direct when needed. Your relationship with your therapist should feel supportive and safe. I strive to offer that to each individual I see. Although I work with all individuals, I find my niche to be teenagers, adults and couples that are primarily dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, infertility, and family of origin difficulties. I welcome and work with all individuals regardless of race

"Life is difficult." That's a Scott Peck quote. Healing begins just by embracing this quote. Three simple words, but on a bad day, very true, right? Sunny days seem inaccessible. You've already taken the first step, which is realizing that the listening ear of a therapist just might be helpful. After graduating from Boston U, my emphasis became adolescents, family relationships, and women's issues. This is my practice emphasis, but my door is open to all who are interested in growth and self-reflection.

Many people I work with have been in therapy before, but it didn't go deep enough. They still feel anxious, depressed, or unsure of themselves, and are stuck in old patterns in relationships with others and themselves. I work particularly well with people who have difficult relationships with a parent, those who experienced a lot of chaos as children, young adults, new parents and LGBTQ folks, but I work well with anyone who wants to understand themselves better. I can help you get to the root of your problems instead of only looking at the surface-level symptoms.

When working with individuals, I aim to help them through a collaborative process to understand the underlying issues that are causing them to not live up to their potential. The model which I employ assumes that many of our struggles are connected to conflicts within us of which we are not completely aware. I feel that therapy is most effective when the entire person's personality and history are considered instead of just focusing on current problematic behaviors. My work focuses on recognizing long standing relationship patterns that are troublesome as well as developing a more emotionally stable and adaptive personality.

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out for support. I know it's not easy. I’d love to connect with you to help you learn to manage your emotions and identify coping skills that work for you. I’m an unbiased space that gives your room to explore, process emotions and challenges. Together we can figure out what’s not working and what can help you feel better. I want to see you improve and help you feel like yourself again. I treat therapy as a conversation and discussion regarding your anxieties, worries, stress and other topics. This can help to untangle, reorganize and make sense of your thoughts.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
