Trying to conceive has you stuck tracking and obsessing; your fertility clinic is your new second home. Having children was always your dream, but you never imagined it would be this hard. Maybe you're pregnant now, but so afraid to get attached, worried something could go wrong. Everyday you check for symptoms to reassure yourself. Or your baby’s finally here, but you can’t enjoy it. You watch their breathing, have scary thoughts, and you can’t let anyone else help — it feels safer if you just do everything yourself. You’re exhausted, anxious, and scared. This is not what you planned.

Maybe you're feeling lost? Maybe you're feeling cheated, insignificant, or like the fire in your soul is smoldering out? We can all feel that way sometimes. The good news is it's not a life sentence and we don't have to do it alone! I would love to accompany you on your path towards healing and transformation as you strive towards building the life you want for yourself. Therapy, to me, is a relational tool in which we can explore ourselves more deeply and heal from our deepest pains.

Life is hard enough without having to go through it alone. No matter who you are or where you are from, my greatest wish for you at the outset is for you to recognize that we all have complications — we could all benefit from growth and healing. As we embrace these realities, we also learn to embrace all of the parts of ourselves, including those that most need our attention and affection. Make no mistake, the path to growth can be difficult. It involves equal parts frustration and exploration, and even a good dose of humor! But when we face ourselves, we may also find that the outcome is beautiful, rewarding, and even enchanting.

To me, therapy is when we practice being lovingly honest with ourselves about our deepest thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs. It can be tough at times—letting go of what’s kept us feeling safe means stepping into the unknown. But it’s also a rewarding journey that helps us live more authentically, in tune with who we are and what matters most.

If anyone knew the worries that pop up in your head, you worry they'd definitely judge you. You feel alone, because surely no one else has all of these upsetting thoughts that come out of nowhere (you think). Your thoughts and worries are so distressing, and you feel so trapped by them. You spend SO much time and energy trying to get rid of these thoughts and manage your anxiety, but nothing has helped. It hasn't gotten any better, and the things you care most about in your life have been hijacked by it all.

You spend your days powering through at work, at home, or in class, while fighting waves of anxiety, only to end the day exhausted, frustrated, and disconnected from the people and activities that matter most. You're doing "all the things," and yet still feel like anxiety is running the show. Many of my clients are driven professionals, parents, or students who feel out of control when it comes to anxious thoughts or uncomfortable physical sensations — whether its unwanted intrusive thoughts that are hard to shake, the constant mental loop of perfectionism, or panic attacks.

If you are reading this, there’s a good chance you feel unknown. Your family and friends think highly of you, but you’re afraid that might be because you’ve fooled them. Deep down you feel like there is something wrong with you, and no amount of “doing the right thing” can change that. You’ve spent much of your life between procrastination and perfection, but nothing really calms the racing thoughts and anxiety. A lifetime of trying to fix what feels broken in your family has taken its toll. It’s actually been pretty tough—and there’s a lot of pain.

Whether you are dealing with obsessions, compulsions, general anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, depression, etc
Each individual has unique needs and I work with you to accurately assess your needs and co-create goals that are aligned with the life you want to live. I start therapy with getting to know you, your thinking patterns, your behaviors, and your emotions. Then, we'd identify what's working in your life and what's not. Then, we'd determine what can be done.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
