For example, people who have had child abuse, neglect, molestation, and or sexual, emotional, verbal, physical abuse, domestic abuse, bullying as adults from relationships, workplaces, places of worship, and from professionals.
There are many events in our lives that we don't have control over and get stuck in our brains. I'll help you move out so you can have that space back.

I'm not the therapist you see in movies. I drink too much Diet Coke and my office has power recliners. I look you in the eye when I ask the hard questions and I cuss a little. Laughter and humor are tools for healing and sometimes I do that too loud. I know if I’m not real, I can’t expect you to be either. It's important to me that I create a space you can be exactly who you are. A place you can become better equipped to navigate a world that feels emotionally unsafe. Being confident and calm in your body is your birthright and I believe, wholeheartedly, in your ability to heal.

I like to work with people who are internally motivated to learn and grow and desire to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Whatever challenges they are facing I want them to know that working with me will at some point mean paying attention to and allowing themselves to feel their feelings. A conscious relationship with self is had through attending to the feelings we have about ourselves. Understanding feelings will be essential in generating improved self-awareness and a sense of personal integrity.

As an OCD, Trauma, and Anxiety specialist, I am here to tell you that you do not have to continue to suffer from the pervasive and agonizing obsessive thoughts associated with OCD, nor do you need to continue to carry the trauma of the past with you. The thoughts, emotions, and self concepts continue to follow, despite the fact that time passes, and despite how much you KNOW that the obsessive thoughts are unnecessary, you seem to not be able to break free from them. If it seems as though no matter what you KNOW about life, there is a struggle to feel differently, I want you to know that this can change.

Feeling overwhelmed and anxious, like you’re constantly juggling too many things but never really getting anything done? Your mind never stops, making it hard to focus at work and you’re falling behind. The mental load is overwhelming. At home, you find yourself snapping at your kids or withdrawing from your partner, leaving you feeling guilty and disconnected. Even when you’re around others, it can feel like you’re not really there—like you're just going through the motions. It’s exhausting to keep up appearances while inside you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, or past trauma that just won't let go.

The clients I serve are often at a crossroads in their life story and unsure of how to close one chapter and begin anew. Clients I enjoy working with recognize that counseling continues outside of the session in self reflection, exploring behavior change, and shifting how we think and relate to ourselves. I find that counseling helps meet goals and needs as diverse as the client, and sometimes goals arise throughout the course of the relationship. No one needs a "good reason" to come to counseling, for the desire to reach out and try will always be sufficient.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Therapists
How does neuro-linguistic programming work?
A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviors. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.
What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?
NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualization or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.
How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?
Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.
Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?
While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
