Through customized and collaborative therapy, we will explore current issues of concern and relevant past experiences to help put the missing pieces of the puzzle back together for a happier, healthier you. I will always create a safe space for you, and ask that in return we work together towards your goals with honesty, vulnerability and commitment.

*My specialties include: complex trauma; stress management; polyvagal theory; brain health; nervous system regulation; relationship health/boundaries; mindfulness-based CBT, holistic & integrative nutritional wellness; divorce/relationship recovery,
narcissistic
abuse, domestic violence, trauma bonding, and identifying character (personality) disorders.
Unbeknownst to many, the stigma associated with "therapy" is lifting. Society is waking up and realizing overall health needs to be a non-negotiable. My passion lies in supporting & educating clients on brain/nervous system health; increased awareness on thought/behavioral patterns that exacerbate overall stress, feelings of unworthiness, and unhealthy cycles. My ideal client is ready to do some hard work and be challenged, curious and brave enough to look inside, get honest with self, work on vulnerability, and face their fears. Together, we will identify and dig out the roots that no longer serve them and plant new seeds.

Making the decision to seek therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness. Getting help during a difficult time can ease the burdens one carries during times of high stress and transition. Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Addiction and Self-Destructive Behaviors are real problems, yet with the right treatment you can expect to experience meaningful recovery and growth. In therapy, we work collaboratively to reduce the impact the symptoms or behaviors have on your life and build coping strategies and resiliency.

I seek to do whatever possible to help you feel safe in counseling. The relationship between you and I needs to be one that feels warm, inviting, non-judgmental, and encouraging. From the safety of this relationship, you can then feel supported enough to grieve what has been lost and push to fight for the things that have been taken from your life.

Making a decision to enter therapy is often a step taken after much thought and consideration. Evelyn's professional experience is framed by a philosophy of trust and respect in the collaborative relationship. Clients may enter treatment at a period of life that is marked by stress, strain and pain. While this may be the presenting problem, the journey of therapy allows one to develop an understanding of the strengths as well as limitations that help or hinder life at different stages. Evelyn helps clients recognize patterns of interaction in the present that may shed insight on difficult recurring issues.

We will never pretend we know exactly what you are going through, because we aren't you. But, what we can do is help! Being licensed in both Missouri and Arizona allows us to reach out to help even more people. Whether you are looking to move forward from the past, learn to live with loss, handle stress and anxiety/depression better, we can help!

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
