Loving someone who struggles with addiction can be incredibly painful and confusing. You may feel anxious, exhausted, or unsure how to help without losing yourself in the process. Many of the people I work with are trying to navigate a loved one’s substance use, recovery journey, or the impact it has had on their relationships and family. I also work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life stress. Therapy can be a place to talk honestly, sort through difficult emotions, and begin finding healthier ways forward.

I find that often a person is suffering with one or more unresolved issues and continues to hope things will change. When things don't change or get better, they may be ready to seek counseling and become open to talking with a stranger. That's often a big step to take. The goal is to improve the situation, handle a crisis and/or just stop the pain. There are many issues that result in reaching out to a counselor including a relationship crisis, loss of some sort, surviving trauma, addictions, difficulty with family or significant others, and changes that may occur within the person such as depression or anxiety.

Thank you for your interest. My ideal client is motivated for change and open to exploring more about themselves. I use a more direct style of counseling that heavily incorporates aspects of choice theory, reality therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help my adult clients make real changes in their lives. For children, I utilize evidence-based directive and non-directive play therapy approaches, depending upon the child's unique psychosocial needs.

Any St. Louis rehabilitation center can provide treatment; MIA provides the difference. There are many drug rehab centers, but few of these rehab centers compare to Midwest Institute for Addiction's programs. This differentiation goes beyond our comprehensive, individualized, and evidence based treatment model and focuses on the quality of services that we offer. There is a lack of separation in the minds of professional service providers when considering the difference between a product offered and the service that coincides with that product. The MIA difference is the ability to offer quality services that coincide with our quality treatment.

Have you thought of trying therapy but couldn't get yourself to go? Or, have you gone to a million therapists in the past and it "didn't help?" Well, The Center for Mental Wellness is not your average therapy. It is our job to first and foremost create a beneficial therapeutic relationship with each and every client. Without that relationship based on trust and honesty it is difficult to see progress. Our experienced, authentic counselors enable us to offer effective outpatient, individualized, therapeutic care. We treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples

Life can feel overwhelming when you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life changes. You might also be trying to navigate the stress of a loved one’s addiction or recovery. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, exhausted, or unsure where to begin. I enjoy working with people who are ready to better understand themselves, work through difficult experiences, and start building healthier and more fulfilling lives.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure how to handle what’s going on in your life or your family. Many of the people I work with are dealing with stress, big emotions, relationship challenges, or changes at home or school. Sometimes it’s hard to put those feelings into words. Therapy can be a place to slow down, talk things through, and start making sense of what you’re experiencing.

Society Today can be dealt multiple Life stressors, ranging from Financial, Marital, Relational, issues with employment and or Life in General. Through Therapy, an Individualized Improvement Plan can be devised and implemented to assist individuals with coping and possibly overcoming the issues they are facing. Adolescents and Teens are complicated, and I am eager to assist. Teen groups are available as well as individualized treatment. Two people working together are always better than one. As a therapist I have learned the more input a client contributes to their therapeutic goals the better the outcomes and success possibility.
