We all need help sometimes. Are you struggling with anxiety, trauma, life changes, issues around gender and/or sexual orientation, or relationships with unhealthy dynamics? I help people to work through things that may be getting in the way of what they want for their life. My hope for everyone is that they find more peace, strength, and joy in life. If you happen to be looking for early morning appointment times, I recently shifted my schedule and have multiple early times open.

I am trained in various modalities geared towards processing trauma and associated complex feelings such as
IFS
, Somatic psychology, and EFT.
Nothing you do seems to help you get out of this. You feel as if you are running in place, repeating yourself. It is time for another cook in the kitchen so to speak. I do not just want to be another person telling you things will be alright or it is fine; just push through. Whether it be depression, anxiety, family adjustment issues, or trauma related issues I am here to help you realize an internal strength you inherently possess.

My work is informed by Internal
Family Systems
(
IFS
), attachment theory (how we connect to others and ourselves) and mindfulness (awareness and acceptance).
Therapy is a chance for you to gain insight into your personal journey through life. In therapy, you may find it easier to identify your strengths and make lasting change. I am committed to creating a safe, comfortable space to explore your challenges and access self-compassion around your unique experiences. My role is to honor the parts of you that seek support as we build towards integration and overall wellness.

As an Internal
Family Systems
(
IFS
) trained therapist, I believe we are all made up of many different parts. We have vulnerable inner parts, referred to as exiles, who were wounded in the past and took on extreme beliefs and emotions. To protect us from re-experiencing those feelings and sensations, we develop protective parts to either manage our lives to prevent these wounds from being poked or firefighters who come on the scene to move us away from the pain once touched. I believe that all parts are valuable and deserve to be heard, understood, and unburdened from the extreme roles they have taken on to protect you.

I work from an attachment perspective, with a focus on developmental trauma, integrating the mind and body through Internal
Family Systems
, Inner Child work, Narrative theories, with an emphasis in healing trauma through EMDR.
I work with women to help rebuild a relationship with themselves that tells them they are good, and that the adversity they have experienced is not their fault. Many of my clients have experienced relational trauma that has silenced their voice, disconnected them from their emotions and bodily experience. I enjoy working with women on various issues including emotional abuse, powerlessness, relational issues (mother-daughter relationships), boundary issues, anxiety, depression, confusion and anger. I focus my energy into creating a safe space where you can begin to know and trust yourself, experiencing a sense of empowerment.

family systems
and knowledge about trauma, attachment and family dynamics into an integrative holistic approach.

I work with those who are courageously facing pain and trauma in their lives. Perhaps you wonder if you can look at your own experiences... Maybe you fear being overwhelmed if you dare look. You may be thinking anxiety will overwhelm you. It need not be this way. Allow me to journey with you as you explore the questions tugging at you. You need not face them alone. Support is here; it is real. You CAN face these challenges, and you need not face them alone in the silence of your heart. Reach out now for the support you deserve.

Many of my interventions derive from the Internal
Family Systems
(
IFS
) model better known as “parts work”.
I'm motivated to work with clients who suffer from feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. This client will have a history of familial trauma or come from a dysfunctional family system. This client might struggle with accessing and communicating emotions effectively. This client may not know how this all connects but is interested in deeper healing.

My hope is that our work together can reignite those things that bring you the most joy and life. Often this process involves working through the impact of loss, pain, or trauma in a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. I work extensively with women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and much of my experience centers around religious trauma and spiritual wounding. My work is informed by humanistic and existential perspectives of psychotherapy, and I often incorporate the use of mindfulness techniques. I am also trained in a number of evidence-based clinical treatments including
IFS
, ACT, and EMDR.

I utilize a trauma-informed, integrative approach, combining elements across therapeutic modalities, including ACT, CBT,
IFS
, CPT, DBT, Attachment, Mindfulness, Narrative therapy.
Finding the right therapist can be a vulnerable and challenging process. I approach therapy with collaboration and non-judgment at the center of each therapeutic relationship. Therapy should be a safe and intentional space to take risks, unpack and explore our experiences, and develop new ways of thinking and feeling about ourselves and our place in the world. My style is casual and compassionate, utilizing metaphors and psychoeducation, to help clients develop insights about their experience, identify tools and strategies to reduce distress, and understand theory relevant to their circumstances.

My counseling is informed by the psychological and developmental frameworks of attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and
family systems
theory in conversation with the Christian tradition.
My goal in counseling is to create a safe and collaborative environment in which an individual, couple or family can explore and make sense of how their inner experiences and relationship patterns are either restricting or fostering a greater sense of connection with themselves and others. I specialize in working with couples, adults, families with adult children, clergy or religious professionals impacted by childhood abuse and neglect, grief and loss, underdeveloped communication and conflict resolution skills, spiritual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, and divorce and remarriage.

I'm informed by somatic practices such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and mindfulness, as well as Parts Work (Internal
Family Systems
).
Examining and shifting age-old patterns can be an overwhelming endeavor to take on alone. My role is to offer you a compassionate, authentic, and non-judgmental space as you embark on that journey. I support folks to cultivate joy, ease, and meaning in their lives, even when doing so feels impossible. This might include strengthening executive functioning skills, exploring gender or sexual identity, or learning self-validation in an often invalidating world. Together, we'll identify effective ways to move through life's most difficult moments - the past can't be changed, but we can transform how it influences our present and future.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
