Greetings! Welcome and thank you for considering me as your therapist. It is said that the reason two antelope walk side by side is to blow the dust from each other's eyes (African proverb). In today's world, it seems harder than ever to find clarity in the midst of chaos. Living with unaddressed chaos and unresolved pain can leave us feeling stuck and disconnected from those who love us and who may be able to help us. Sometimes, due to life circumstances, we struggle to find our way back to ourselves, our family and our God.

Hi, my name is Hannah. My approach to therapy is person-centered and non-pathologizing. I believe that you are the expert in your life, and therapy is an invitation to dive more deeply into your experiences and desired healing. I utilize parts work (Internal Family Systems) and somatic-based therapy to help you get to know all parts of you, and ground in a stronger sense of Self. You may find me a good fit if you want to go beyond simply ‘coping’ with feelings, stressors, etc., and want to work towards understanding and meeting your underlying needs.

I am here to partner with you and your family , in whatever shape it appears! My approach is very solutions-focused and strengths-based.
You are tired of fighting, having to explain yourself, being disappointed, and grieving the life you planned as a child. Parenting is one of the HARDEST and most fulfilling experiences that one can have in this lifetime, but it can sometimes feel like a constant battle. If you toss in co-parenting with an ex-partner, trying to integrate a new partner into your "ready-made" family , and/or being a caregiver to a family member due to unfavorable circumstances, things get a lot more complicated. Being the child in these situations, can be even harder to navigate because everything can feel so unstable. All of it feels exhausting!

I work from an attachment perspective, with a focus on developmental trauma, integrating the mind and body through Internal Family Systems, Inner Child work, Narrative theories, with an emphasis in healing trauma through EMDR.
I work with women to help rebuild a relationship with themselves that tells them they are good, and that the adversity they have experienced is not their fault. Many of my clients have experienced relational trauma that has silenced their voice, disconnected them from their emotions and bodily experience. I enjoy working with women on various issues including emotional abuse, powerlessness, relational issues (mother-daughter relationships), boundary issues, anxiety, depression, confusion and anger. I focus my energy into creating a safe space where you can begin to know and trust yourself, experiencing a sense of empowerment.

You can have less stress about parenting & the family life you hope for.
We can all use counseling! Even when doing our best, we can end up so stressed we can’t sleep, yelling at our kids or partner, trapped in unfulfilling relationships and jobs, stuck in grief, with habits we hate, and wounds from the past that just won’t heal. Counseling helps. My mission is to deeply understand you, your experience, what’s going wrong, what’s going right, where you’d like to be, and possible paths to get there. Based on your needs, I am a listener, sounding board, safe space, cheerleader, coach, teacher, and more. We work together to address and move beyond whatever holds you back from the wellness you deserve.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
