NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: Email to be added to the waitlist. As a father of three children, and a husband of over 20 years, I understand many of the challenges that
family
life presents. I have seen successful professional men and women feel defeated by the struggles they face at home. I have had the opportunity to work with individuals and couples as they change painful patterns and find joy they previously thought impossible. It sometimes is a long, difficult journey; but it does not have to be traveled alone.

I am here to partner with you and your
family
, in whatever shape it appears! My approach is very solutions-focused and strengths-based.
You are tired of fighting, having to explain yourself, being disappointed, and grieving the life you planned as a child. Parenting is one of the HARDEST and most fulfilling experiences that one can have in this lifetime, but it can sometimes feel like a constant battle. If you toss in co-parenting with an ex-partner, trying to integrate a new partner into your "ready-made"
family
, and/or being a caregiver to a
family
member due to unfavorable circumstances, things get a lot more complicated. Being the child in these situations, can be even harder to navigate because everything can feel so unstable. All of it feels exhausting!

I primarily use EMDR,
Family
Systems Theory, Feminist Theory, and Attachment Theory to help my clients.
I work with those who struggle with trauma, relationship problems, and not taking care of oneself first. I have experience working with those who have sexual abuse or assault histories, trauma within problematic relationships, and compassion fatigue. Trauma comes in all sizes and from a variety of experiences, so do not discount what you have lived through. If you are unsure if what you have experienced is trauma, we can make that determination together. No matter the circumstances that bring you into therapy, we will spend time healing your wounds to help you grow into the person you wish to be, with a stronger sense of safety.

I work with couples, individuals, and families focusing on issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief/loss, and trauma. I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and utilize these techniques for couples and individuals. During our sessions, we will identify the underlying emotional needs and gain tools to communicate those needs to others, whether that is with our partner, our
family
, or our friends. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental space where people can increase their understanding of the unhelpful patterns of behaviors that might be causing them pain and hardship.

I do not offer couples or
family therapy
at this time.
I am a particularly good fit for clients who tend to intellectualize their problems and who are uncomfortable/unaccustomed to tapping into their emotions. I am a more interactive therapist. I see therapy as a conversation. If you are someone who has been frustrated by therapists who are detached, I may be a good fit for you. I am patient and I will not push you into going deeper than you feel comfortable with at the moment. I know that change and trust are slow processes and I will respect your ability to set the pace of your own therapy.

Typically, we wear many hats and life “tries” to deter us from making time for self-care. However, YOU are important so, give yourself permission to put YOU at the top of your to-do list. Self-care is not selfish, it is essential….YOU are essential. My goal is to support my clients holistically…..mentally, spiritually, socially, and physically. My clients are actively involved in their treatment plan that is tailored to their unique selves. I see clients for individual, couples, and
family therapy
. I support my clients with concerns around depression, anxiety, stress, and health management.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
