Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists in Saint Louis, MO

My interest is in helping you live your life fully. What do you know, and love, about yourself? What troubles you, no matter how much you work on it? And what are those unthought knowns–the truths about yourself that you don’t yet tell yourself? There is great healing power in learning them and learning how to use them. When someone enters a treatment with me, I feel the deep honor of accompanying that person on a significant journey. During the 30 years I’ve done therapy, I’ve become increasingly impressed by the power of a life story. How do we nurture the qualities that define us, make life more exciting and satisfying?

Therapy is a tool that has the potential to help you better manage a range of issues. Maybe you find yourself feeling so sad or anxious that it's taking the fun out of your life. Maybe your best just never feels good enough. Or you’re feeling depressed, lonely or angry and using a substance to cope. Maybe you've experienced trauma or abuse and you're struggling to move beyond the anger and pain. Or maybe you just feel like you need to talk to someone. If any of these describes you, let’s talk. I understand that seeking a consultation can feel overwhelming but while therapy can be hard work, it can also be very rewarding!

As a foundation of my clinical work, I believe we are purposeful and intentional beings. We do things because they work (or did work) for us in some way. When these behaviors are no longer working we experience discomfort and stress within ourselves and in our relationships. Often this distress manifests itself in symptoms such as anxiety and depression, or physical health concerns such as headaches, gastrointestinal problems, or pain. Because of this, I acknowledge the importance of addressing each client in a holistic way, honoring the connection between our mind and body.

We have all experienced adversities at some point in our life; sometimes these adversities leave us defeated, wondering how we can gather our strengths to move pass these falls. The journey seems unpredictable at times and we forget that we have what it takes within us to recover from those adversities. As your counselor, my goal is to be alongside you in this journey of searching for the strength that is within you to not only overcome these adversities but also to help you understand how you’ve come to develop these patterns of behaviors that no longer serve you well.
