I partner with clients in order to support specific needs in the areas of depression , anxiety, stress, relational issues, spiritual concerns, and maternal mental health.
I value the counseling setting as a place to discuss all thoughts and feelings freely and without fear of judgment so that new associations can be made, and emotional isolation can be replaced with connection. When we understand and accept ourselves, growth and healing can occur! I create a safe space where individuals can first understand how their personal experiences have impacted their lives and then collaborate with clients in order to establish authentic insights that will shape their stories moving forward.

Issues include addiction, depression , anxiety, ptsd, relationships, and habit control.
2021, and the task of therapy is understanding the "mood" behind the mask that we all must wear. Isolated from friends, we struggle to work and manage family responsibilities within the walls of our home without the balance we would receive from our workplace, our gym, our clubs, or our church. Therapy is now online...but this format comes easily over a safe format allowing a relaxing and professional conversation in my online therapy office. You will be heard, and come away with strategies for managing your moods and recognizing possibilities in your current situation. You are not alone! Sign up for therapy help now!

Every new day presents the opportunity to begin a new chapter. What is already written on our pages may shape us, but it does not define us. Every obstacle, experience, and transition we encounter brings opportunity for joy, growth, meaning, and connection. Therapy provides support to reflect on where you have been, where you are now, and where you want to be. New Chapter offers therapy services that fit your life and comfort level.

Whether you are dealing with symptoms of depression , anxiety, struggling with anger/irritability, purpose/direction, and identity.
6-8 sessions may be all you need. Do you often think/say to yourself: “I should know this?” “I’ve read all the self-help books.” “I’ve done therapy in the past.” "I was doing great." “What are you going to tell me that I don’t already know?” or "I have never done this before" I get it. I work with negative, self-limiting beliefs and past traumas that may be holding you back.

I enjoy working with persons with issues related to depression , anxiety, trauma, relationships, body image, self-esteem, and LGBTQ+ identity, and more.
It’s crucial for most clients who have been injured or felt out of control for most of their lives to to understand the degree to which therapy puts them back in the driver’s seat — you ultimately decide what we explore and at what pace. At the same time, I invite you to experiment with the vulnerability therapy makes possible. Your own openness and honesty hold the keys to the possibility of receiving the acceptance, support, insight, and love that you have always wanted. And that you deserve!

As a foundation of my clinical work, I believe we are purposeful and intentional beings. We do things because they work (or did work) for us in some way. When these behaviors are no longer working we experience discomfort and stress within ourselves and in our relationships. Often this distress manifests itself in symptoms such as anxiety and depression , or physical health concerns such as headaches, gastrointestinal problems, or pain. Because of this, I acknowledge the importance of addressing each client in a holistic way, honoring the connection between our mind and body.

I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression , grief or life transitions; chronic illness, or trauma.
Making the choice to start therapy can feel daunting, but it can be a rewarding and healing experience. Therapy is a space where you can express thoughts and feelings without judgment. You can explore and heal, learn and observe, and work towards the goals and values that you identify as important. I assist people in discovering peace and comfort within their lives through coping skills, mindfulness practices, and self compassion, as well as exploring and healing from past experiences and traumas.

I enjoy working with clients around issues of depression , anger, control issues, loneliness and aloneness, and trauma and post traumatic stress (PTSD).
I know what it’s like to feel helpless, alone, frustrated, confused, unseen, unheard, and unsupported. Also, I know that it’s possible to transform these experiences into something deeply meaningful. The path to this transformation involves time and intention, and the courage to look deeply at oneself. As we learn to understand and relinquish old patterns, new ways of being give forth new hope and possibility. And not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us. What a wondrous experience!

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults in areas related to depression , anxiety, men’s issues, relationships, life transitions, LGBTQ+ identity exploration, and trauma/PTSD.
Many of us enter therapy believing that we are lost causes or somehow don’t belong in this space. Let me be the first to affirm: you are whole, you do not need to be ‘fixed’, you belong. In therapy, the needs of each person are unique, but our shared humanity connects us in deep and meaningful ways, so our time together will bring both of these to the fore. We will need your self-determination and tenacity, and we will also need one another — the relationship between client and therapist is in fact the vehicle for healing and recovery. My deepest wish is to be a guide and fellow sojourner as we journey toward change.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with issues related to depression , anxiety, trauma, addiction, and more.
It is said that what does not kill us makes us stronger, and that may be true. However, sometimes it can also cripple us. To make matters worse, we are creatures of habit – we are drawn to people and circumstances that have a familiar dysfunction to what we know, and we tend to fear the unknown even when we logically understand that it holds the promise of a better outcome. Before we know it, we’re stuck doing the same things and don’t know how to find our way out. My deepest hope is to help you find your path, and that our time together results in life you’ve always wanted. The doorway is your very own courage and strength.

Depression Therapists

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
