While supporting individuals as they face codependency and/or addiction issues, sexual abuse and other types of distress, I find it valuable to look back at earlier losses for what might still be lingering, perhaps contributing to pain in one's life today.
I work with those who are courageously facing pain and trauma in their lives. Perhaps you wonder if you can look at your own experiences... Maybe you fear being overwhelmed if you dare look. You may be thinking anxiety will overwhelm you. It need not be this way. Allow me to journey with you as you explore the questions tugging at you. You need not face them alone. Support is here; it is real. You CAN face these challenges, and you need not face them alone in the silence of your heart. Reach out now for the support you deserve.

I’m passionate about working with challenges such as anxiety, depression, sexual shame, LGBTQIA+, codependency , perfectionism, racial trauma, eco-anxiety, and re-constructing spiritual identity.
Hello Friend! Feel free to call me Jazz or Jazzy. I’m a curious person who loves helping my fellow humans find their way back home to themselves. This can mean different things depending on the individual, which is why we will work together to decide what it means for you. You’re the expert on your lived experience, I’m the one with the student debt for this degree, and we will work as a team to meet your therapeutic goals. My intention in sessions is to provide a safe place where you can finally set down some of the heavy burdens like anxiety, self-harm, shame, and trauma and begin to unpack them.

Supporting individuals suffering from anxiety/depression, professional/academic problems, interpersonal conflicts, and codependency problems to become successful is what I do!.
Is the stress and anxiety of life getting you down? Does it seem like you will never overcome the emotional and physical pain you are experiencing? Are you stuck in behavioral patterns that derail financial success, impede relationships, and sabotage professional and personal growth? Pessimism, sadness, anger, and frustration, are real emotions with consequences, sometimes severe. They prevent you from enjoying your best life. Feeling stuck, unloved/cared for, worthless, and a failure is no fun. If it seems you are destined to live out this unfulfilling and, at times, hopeless life; take heart. Hope is just a phone call away!

Living with internal chaos is exhausting and lonely. Constantly feeling overwhelmed and afraid takes away from living well. Maybe you relate to this. Maybe you know what it’s like to feel like your life isn’t yours, to feel controlled by anxiety. Maybe parts of you feel stuck and alone. You want to feel safe and loved, but something is in the way. Or something is missing. Or maybe you don’t know what’s going on, but you know it hurts. It is possible to feel better. You can create a life you want to live.

I provide therapeutic services to adults, adolescents, couples, and families, specializing in work with clients who are seeking growth or healing within relationships – both those held with others and with themselves. Much of my work explores experiences of alienation or conflict within ourselves, our families, and our communities. The clients that I have found to best fit my approach are seeking purpose and meaning, navigating feelings of uncertainty, and are interested in examining ways outward relationships reflect their inner selves.

I work with couples, individuals, and families focusing on issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief/loss, and trauma. I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and utilize these techniques for couples and individuals. During our sessions, we will identify the underlying emotional needs and gain tools to communicate those needs to others, whether that is with our partner, our family, or our friends. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental space where people can increase their understanding of the unhelpful patterns of behaviors that might be causing them pain and hardship.

*Yes, I am gay :)* I believe that therapy is for everyone, because everyone deserves this sacred space to look into the mirror and see themselves. Sometimes the reflection isn’t pretty. Sometimes there are things we wish we didn’t see. However, witnessing and recognizing the pain and sadness is the first part of moving through it. That’s where the therapist comes in, to stand by patiently and point out the behaviors, beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that are causing us pain. They are the person who helps us shed everything that is holding us back so that we can finally become the person we always knew we could be.

We seek help when our way of relating to ourselves and others is no longer working for us. It can be daunting to look outside of ourselves to gain an understanding of something so personal, but taking this step offers the opportunity to cultivate powerful tools for adaptation, self-regulation and productive relationships.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
