As an ADHD patient, an advanced practice nurse, mother of ADHD children, & ADHD specialist, I understand the condition better than most.
"If you have a chance to work with Kristin, don't think twice. I have referred clients to her and can tell you, she has magic. Not only does she have all the knowledge she needs, but she has the knack, the understanding & natural empathy of one who has been there, of one who really burns to make sure others do not suffer the way she did. This tenacious, loving guide is sent from heaven. Seek her out, trust her & give thanks you've found her" (Dr. Edward 'Ned' Hallowell, MD, 2020).

Aloha! Fun fact that I grew up in Hawaii and try to embody the Aloha spirit as much as possible. I often support clients who feel overwhelmed, distracted, emotionally reactive, or stuck in patterns that strain their relationships. Whether it’s managing racing thoughts, navigating attention and focus difficulties, or improving communication and connection with loved ones. Outside of the therapy space, I’m also a mother of two boys, enjoy practicing yoga and spending time with my dogs - activities that help me stay grounded, balanced, and present in both my life and my work.

Licensed in Missouri and Illinois, I work with individuals and couples, treating those who are experiencing relational issues, depression/anxiety, ADHD, mild autism and life stressors.
Hi! I'm Ann. I enjoy working with people who are open-minded, inquisitive and who like to challenge norms. Part of the therapeutic process is about confronting the parts of ourselves that we tend to hide and feel a bit less comfortable with. I'd like to help you get to know your whole self and walk beside you as you question some of the beliefs you've held, which may be in conflict with who you are now. Like you, I've been there and asked myself. "What do I want?" "Who am I?" and "What feels motivating and pleasurable in my life?" It's tough to feel ‘stuck’ and also, it's the start of something brand new.

Life just seems to be harder for you than everyone else. You constantly wonder why it takes so much effort to do seemingly simple tasks - brush your teeth, wash dishes, finish laundry. By the end of the day you have nothing left. As much as you want friendships, they are hard and exhausting to keep up with. You try finding strategies that work but being consistent seems impossible. If you could just figure out how to make these things easier, life wouldn't be so stressful. The depression, anxiety, and constant guilt takes a toll on your mental health, but it doesn't seem to explain everything you are going through...

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
