It's the relationships in our lives that bring joy and contentment. We also know that they can cause great pain.
For over 35 years, I've had the privilege to work with individuals and couples helping them successfully navigate the challenges they've faced in their relationships, as well as with personal challenges, such as addictions, career changes or anxiety and depression-related issues.
Whether working with individuals, couples or families, it's seeing issues resolved and lives restored that bring such satisfaction.
Anxiety is ruthless. What starts out feeling like a helpful coping mechanism eventually turns into something that can overtake your entire life. I am extensively trained and specialize in utilizing evidence-based practice in treating anxiety disorders both as a solitary diagnosis and as part of a co-morbid struggle. I treat individuals of all ages and backgrounds and am LGBTQIA allied.
Sometimes in life there are events that happen that make absolutely no sense. Sometimes those events have a lasting impact on our relationships, parenting, careers, identity and emotional health. As a certified trauma therapist, I believe it is my privilege to work through these emotions with my clients to provide hope and work together toward healing. I am LGBTQ friendly and believe in treating all my clients with respect, dignity, compassion and understanding in a safe and supportive atmosphere. I am now providing virtual therapy to allow clients to continue working toward healing in the midst of the current pandemic.
I specialize in couples, working with those experiencing conflict, conflict-avoidance, infidelity/trust issues, communication problems, parenting/co-parenting struggles, and or when one or both partners experience depression, anxiety, or trauma. Relationships are the most important things in our lives, and when we get disconnected, everything in life can feel so much harder. I also see individuals who are struggling with self-worth issues, excessive worry, and past history of trauma. Therapy can do a world of good, especially when life has been painful. I am dedicated to the therapy process, and help clients find hope and relief.

Sometimes we move into a season of life where we realize something needs to change. We don’t always know what that change is, but we sense that without it, we may not be able to move forward. Therapy is the exploration and healing of that season of life. We have a tendency to repeat old patterns that don’t get us to our goal, but struggle to come up with a different path. This doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. In fact, it means that a part of you believes deeply that the way you’re doing things is helpful, even though the end result doesn’t seem so wonderful! Let’s try to create a path to freedom together!
8/22/22 I'm currently accepting new clients! I work primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults who are learning about themselves and what their place in the world is. I aim to help clients identify their needs and find their voice to advocate for themselves in ways that work best for them. Sometimes that means figuring out how the latest Stranger Things fits their life or how their favorite video game can be used to help them. I also assist adults in identifying and managing their emotions and roles in relationships. Overall I work collaboratively with clients to help them share themselves and their views with the world.
Finding the right therapist can seem incredibly overwhelming in your journey to begin counseling. I am a non-judgmental professional willing to not only assist you in your journey to better mental health and creating positive change in your life, but also make it a fun and enjoyable experience.
Rhonda is skilled in working with adults with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, grief, trauma, and life transitions. Together she works with you to create movement in your life towards your stated values and goals.
As we navigate life, we often face "barriers" that prevent us from moving forward and taking charge of our lives. The "barriers" that we face in life can be debilitating, but there are ways to break those "barriers" and create new paths towards your future. The new path created can lead one to a better quality of life.
I view counseling as a personal journey for each client and I understand that each client has a unique need to be heard and understood. I realize that some individuals can be avoidant of counseling because of a perceived misunderstanding about how counseling works. I work to remove those fears and doubts so each client can experience healing and growth in a compassionate atmosphere without judgement or criticism. I invite anyone who is interested or in need of counseling to visit me at my new office location in West Port and start their journey to wellness today.
Currently accepting new clients! I work with individual adults, couples, and families. Over the last 15 years, I have had the opportunity to work with people dealing with a variety of struggles including: anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, depression, stress management, women's issues, parenting education, spiritual matters, relationship/communication struggles, etc. I work hard to walk through these issues alongside my clients and provide the support they need. While I can’t fix their struggles, I can listen to them and help point them in the right direction with a challenge of a new perspective and hope for their future.
