There are so many reasons people choose to see a counselor; trauma, grief, anxiety, depression,
relationship
problems or situational stress for example. Sometimes, you feel that you can work through it alone. However, another perspective and a place to talk in a comfortable and safe environment is the most beneficial for change to occur. You can get your life on track and I can help! I will help you in developing realistic goals and the support and tools to reach those goals. I have also added a certification to assist First Responders to cope with the challenges of these roles with someone who understands them and their jobs.

Hi. Thank you for taking a look at my counseling profile. I love counseling and have been practicing for 30 years. One of the things I've noticed new clients are concerned about is being able to express themselves without being judged, as well as if the experience will be awkward. In all my years of practicing, I've heard almost everything imaginable and judgment is not a part of how I work. Everything in my office is 100% confidential and safe. I know how to ask the right question and keep the conversation flowing.

I enjoy working with people who are experiencing difficult life issues, often related to relationships and/or cultural expectation of who they "should" be. I support individuals and
couples
who are stuck in a moment of confusion, grief, hopelessness, or despair, helping them figure out how to manage difficult challenges. I particularly appreciate opportunities to work with those in the process of exploring gender identity and sexual orientation, racial identity, and acute life/work crises such as grief, loss, and other traumas, including critical events.

You want to feel better so you can participate in your life fully; so you can be a better
partner
, friend or parent.
You're feeling like something is wrong. You're afraid this is what life is like now, your new normal. You don't recognize yourself. Maybe you don't know where or when things went left, maybe you do. Either way, you're angry and sad and confused. You're thinking it might be your fault.

Unconditional positive regard is a priority in my practice - I want to understand your situation and difficulties and
partner
with you to help.
I have a passion for helping, and strongly feel that building a connection - a supportive, therapeutic
relationship
- is critical and essential for counseling to be most effective. You will find in me a genuine person, and genuinely caring. I want to help you either overcome and conquer your struggle, or find a way to make life worth living - learning, practicing, and using "tools" that can elevate you to truly living from merely surviving. I've helped hundreds of people to find joy and new purpose, and I want to help you, too.

Everyone deserves to have a place where they can just let it all out and not care one bit what the person across from them thinks. Clients often come to me with insecurities, low self-esteem, battling with depression, simply feeling beat up by life. I work to provide individuals, families and
couples
with a safe, confidential and empathetic environment where they can feel comfortable telling their truth. I am passionate about helping individuals identify the barriers preventing them from finding their life’s purpose and achieving goals they set for themselves. The therapeutic process is very difficult, as it presents many unknowns.

I have experience working with both teens and adults, and enjoy working with depression, anxiety,
relationship
issues, and parenting challenges.
My primary focus as a counselor is helping clients reach their highest potential. Sometimes clients come to me when they are lost and feeling unsure what their next steps need to be. Other times clients are aware what they want their path to be, they just need encouragement and accountability to get themselves there. No matter the reason a client is coming to counseling, I work towards being one of their biggest cheerleaders.

As an experienced LPC specializing in women affected by narcissistic abuse, my goals will be to help you learn self-love, set boundaries, identify your strengths, establish goals, find freedom from toxic life patterns, and create an action plan that will enable you to meet those goals - All within a supportive, life-affirming therapeutic
relationship
.
Many successful women struggle with a pattern of toxic and abusive relationships. You feel invisible, unloveable, unseen, frustrated, and angry. You aren't valuing yourself as a result of having been devalued by people close to you, and you continue to find yourself in these types of unhealthy alliances - it's a toxic pattern that leaves you depleted, anxious and depressed. I want to help women BREAK OUT OF THAT CYCLE, and shift into a vibrant life that includes rewarding work, peace, joy, and happy healthy relationships.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
