The people I see often feel worried, confused, sad, angry, or struggle with similar feelings. Many have normal problems, such as loss of a loved one or troubled relationship. Some have major problems, such as depression, addiction, or abusive relationships. Regardless of the problem, the goal is to have a richer, more satisfying life. As well as listening with care, my style is to talk openly, sharing my thoughts and feelings about your situation. I bring a lifetime of success and failure, joys and sorrows, to my work. Born in 1947, I am semi-retired with a part-time practice.
I enjoy helping children, teens and adults. My specialties are anxiety, OCD, and autism spectrum. Children/teen issues include anxiety, perfectionism, social and coping skills, giftedness, self-esteem and behavior issues. With children's counseling, parents are kept informed in a number of ways such as being included in some sessions, talking briefly after or scheduling separate sessions to discuss progress, concerns, and things you can do at home to support your child's therapy.

** Immediate Availability Within My Office ** If you’re looking for a therapy experience with complete acceptance and freedom to own your story and find your voice, we should meet. My style is really about meeting you where you’re at, so my therapeutic approach can vary - and is truly designed around you. I have years of experience in different applications of therapy, and still find myself feeling so honored and humbled by the experience of walking your journey with you: teaching skills and offering encouragement along the way. Reaching out for help takes courage, and I want to meet that courage with compassion.
People start to heal the moment they feel heard. I believe that hope and healing can be found, even in places of great pain. Life can become stressful and feel overwhelming at times. Having someone to walk beside you through those times helps ease the burden. As we develop a relationship with each other, I have found that people develop insight into what brought them in to see me. I focus on the whole person and try to understand what is being communicated through the behaviors, not just focusing on the symptoms.
I am passionate about helping people who struggle with anxiety, addiction, trauma, depression relationship issues, and more. I have advanced training in counseling modalities proven to help people heal and grow. Together we will explore the issues you are most concerned with, learn new resources, and get to know your story. I also offer "experiential," in-session practices to help process difficult emotions and heal trauma. (e.g. EMDR, ego-state work)
There are times in everyone's life where they face uncertainty and a stirring in themselves for a different way of living. Whether you are facing a new chapter in your life that leads you unsure of the path forward, a parent seeking support for your child as they navigate their social and emotional world, or searching for ways to heal and grow in your relationships, there is a place to start. Therapy is a unique opportunity to further explore our self, our roles, and our interactions in relationships with others. Together, we will work to determine what changes will give you and your family resilience and a deeper connection.
