My specialties include anxiety, depression, grief, fatigue/burnout, child and school issues, ADHD (children and adults), relationship issues, family conflict, parenting, life coaching and transitions.
The past couple of years have undoubtedly taken a toll on people, and families' emotional and mental health. The effects are evident, but not irreversible. Circumstances have changed our mood, how we react, interact and cope with the world and those around us. Family, intimate, personal, and work relationships have been affected. Coping skills that have worked in the past, may no longer serve us well, and could be hindering our overall health, happiness, contentment and wellbeing.

I enjoy working with people who are experiencing difficult life issues, often related to relationships and/or cultural expectation of who they "should" be. I support individuals and couples who are stuck in a moment of confusion, grief, hopelessness, or despair, helping them figure out how to manage difficult challenges. I particularly appreciate opportunities to work with those in the process of exploring gender identity and sexual orientation, racial identity, and acute life /work crises such as grief, loss, and other traumas, including critical events.

I specialize in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, depression, trauma, PTSD, and life -cycle challenges. Ideally, patients are interested in a direct, focused, and assertive approach to therapy and are willing to put in the time and effort between sessions to achieve their goals. I believe the goal in therapy must be to resolve the problem, not cope with it. If you've been frustrated by just talking and not doing, I may be able to help you make the changes you're wanting. I prefer to think of my work as psychological rehab rather than therapy.

The clients I serve are often in a significant moment of transition and are unsure what the path forward looks like. They are seeking clarity, as well as relief from their symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and grief. Clients I enjoy working with understand that therapy extends beyond our scheduled time, and may include setting goals and practicing skills that grow reflection, insight and behavior change. I have seen that therapy and coaching can lead to greater self-understanding and a deeper, more dynamic framework for managing modern life and changing how we relate with ourselves and others.

Have you ever asked yourself, "Is this it? Is this all there is for the rest of my life ? What about me? This is not what I thought my life would look like at this point. I want more! But how do I get it? I'm not even sure what 'more' means, but I know something is missing in my life . I just want to feel fulfilled." If you are nodding along with this, you are not alone. Nearly every woman, whether she's 22 or 52, is saying the same thing: "I want more out of my life !"

I get it, Life is hard, but Life can also be so awesome.
Hi I'm Carmelita and open to new clients. I've done a lot of community work and work with families, couples and young people to improve their lives and help them become a better self. I am a doer by nature. While I respect all individuals in their stage of change, I love working with client's who are ready to "do better". You've been through some difficult times, but don't let your past define your future. "No" today does not mean "never". You change when you move. Sometimes it takes discovering a different or even a new path. That's ok as long as you continue to move in a positive direction. So let's get moving together.

I believe "the right" therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy. Working collaboratively, the client and I create a safe and supportive environment in which the client may address issues and behaviors, explore difficult emotions, cope with life events, resolve conflict, and identify relational patterns. My passion lies in facilitating clients in their journey toward personal growth and self-discovery. My goal is to help others gain control of their lives and inner strength by better understanding the relationship between their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
