I've helped parents to learn proven parenting techniques.
As we journey through life, we can experience challenges that stifle our personal growth or block our connection with others. Sometimes, we feel ill-equipped, disappointed, alone, hurt, or afraid. But there is hope-- hope for understanding, peace, empowerment, and joy. Whether you would like to broaden your understanding of your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, or deepen your connection with others, there is hope and there is help. Together we can enhance self-awareness and other-awareness. We can work to understand and strengthen your ability to manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We can develop healthy problem-solving and life skills.

We all face hardships, stressors, and traumas within our lives. My goal is to help individuals cope, learn about, and process those hardships with empathy and compassion. I want to provide you a safe space to get to the root cause and really work through things that may be uncomfortable and distressing. I welcome and invite you to sit with, discover and learn new insights that may be life changing. I would love you to chat with me. Let me invite you to first have either a virtual or phone consultation to give you the opportunity to share, ask questions, and hopefully eliminate some fears associated to therapy.

I enjoy helping young men and women to build significant and open relationships on their way through dating and engagement as well as working with them on tools to address the conflict in their marriage. I help parents understand what their child or teen needs to heal and function better.
Life presents many circumstances that can be difficult for individuals to navigate on their own. It is not uncommon to experience overwhelming emotions in response to challenge, intense reactions to life events, or possibly feeling disconnected from one’s family or world. I am passionate about providing a safe place where children, teens and families can come for help and support.

I take care to include families in the therapy process to empower parents and enhance parenting resources.
I operate from a trauma-informed and person centered therapy approach with individuals of all ages, with a specialty in play therapy for children who have experienced trauma or complex stressful experiences. This means that I believe each individual has what it takes within them to be in charge of their own healing, and some people just need help along the way. That also means that you get to come exactly as you are and be accepted and cared for. We will take time to build a positive and authentic therapeutic relationship, which will hold the healing powers of safety and connection.

My approach is grounded in meeting folks where they are in the moment, and not asking them to feel, look, or act like someone they’re not. I believe that every person has worth and value because of their identity, and I love helping other people tap into their worth. I believe that all humans have the innate capacity to not only overcome difficult experiences, but to heal and thrive, and when we overcome difficult experiences or emotions, we are stronger and more resilient. Lasting change requires work, but when we put in that work we harness the power to define our experience rather than letting our experience define us.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
