Do you feel frustrated? Alone? Unsupported? I help couples and families gain an understanding of each other's feelings and needs, re-establish closeness and connection, and successfully work together on significant issues. I individualize my approach to meet each couple's, client's or family's unique needs. Therapy may include verbal counseling and/or nonverbal art therapy explorations. I have had great success helping couples restore their connection, and families learn to regulate their emotions and communicate in meaningful ways.

My ideal clients are adults feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, disconnected from themselves or exhausted from carrying too much for too long. Many struggle with anxiety, trauma, self-esteem concerns, boundaries, life transitions or the lasting impact of difficult family experiences. I provide a warm, trauma-informed, affirming space where clients can better understand themselves, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. You do not have to navigate it all alone.

I have significant experience working with high school and college age students with their individual issues and helping their families work through family conflicts that arise during these developmental years. In the process of this, I have worked extensively with persons experiencing anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, identity issues, self-harm, bullying and interpersonal conflict. By virtue of working with families in these developmental stages, I also am asked to do pre-marital and marital therapy for a variety of age groups.

Asking for help can be difficult. We often think "I should be able to handle my problems myself". However, everyone needs support at some point in their lives. A major crisis, a life transition, loss, job stress, relationship problems, emotional needs, our past interfering with our present, or everyday stressors become too much to deal with alone. We forget our strengths and become isolated, depressed, angry, or make poor choices.

Hey there! I typically vibe with 6–30 year-olds, but am down to work with any age. Forget a stuffy room and lots of questions, that doesn't exist when in a room with me. Think bright colors and fun, no boring here. When hanging out I address issues such as stress, depression, ADHD, autism, anger, tough memories, friend drama, big meltdowns, trouble talking, or figuring out who you are. We are in this together, adventuring from session to session to work through the chaos of life.

I offer a safe space to explore the uncomfortable parts of life. Therapy can be challenging, but it’s in the discomfort that growth and healing begin. I have had anxiety and OCD my entire life, so I know how hard it can be to open up to someone about your thoughts and feelings. I also understand how nuanced OCD treatment needs to be, so I hope that you can trust me to guide you on your path. I have recently graduated with my Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology. I went into counseling because as a child and teenager, I needed an adult to listen and understand me. Now, I can be that adult for those who need it.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
