I use EMDR to support healing from anxiety, depression, and trauma, and draw from trauma-informed and domestic violence training for more complex experiences.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to make sense of what’s been weighing on you and move toward meaningful change. Whether you’re working through long-standing challenges or navigating situational trauma, I’m here to support you. I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe showing up as your full self. As a neurodivergent-friendly therapist, I welcome clients who are ready to engage in the real, sometimes uncomfortable, but ultimately rewarding work of therapy.

If you’re struggling with problematic sexual behavior, pornography use, infidelity, emotional affairs, or toxic relationship patterns, you may feel stuck in cycles of shame, secrecy, and emotional exhaustion. Many clients long for clarity, emotional safety, healthy intimacy, and stable connection but feel trapped by behaviors or relationships they can’t seem to change. You may be seeking freedom from depression, anxiety, isolation, broken trust, and repeated heartbreak, while wanting healthier sexuality, deeper emotional connection, and lasting relational change.

I’m a small-town woman who has navigated life’s joys and challenges, including divorce, caring for a child with special needs, loss, and love. These experiences have shaped my deep passion for connecting with real people facing real challenges—people who are not only seeking support, but meaningful, lasting change in their lives. I would love to connect with you to better understand what’s happening in your life today and explore how I can help you move past the obstacles holding you back. When I’m not working with clients, you’ll often find me traveling with my children, playing pickleball or mah-jongg, and listening to podcasts.

Hi, I'm Nathan. I'm a therapist located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri specializing in helping wounded and traumatized nervous systems heal through an eclectic approach. I don't see healing being about fixing or optimizing yourself, I see it as sitting with difficult truths you've been protecting yourself from—shame, grief, rage, ambivalence—long enough to understand what they're telling you and what you can do for yourself with that information. I work with adults who are stuck—caught between performance and disconnection, knowing intellectually yet feeling unable to move or stuck reliving their worst days, over and over.

Accepting new clients both virtually and in person! Do you ever feel like your emotions and logic don't line up together? Does it feel like you're stuck in a neverending cycle and the autopilot that once worked isn't working anymore? I want to be there to help you through the struggle so that you can find the path leading to your goals while gaining a sense of self-awareness, fulfillment, and happiness that you deserve. I believe that people are their own personal experts in their lives, but we might need help unburdening that expert due to past times of becoming overwhelmed and shut down.

Do you wish there was someone out there that understood you? Do you feel separate from others, different somehow and struggle to find someone to relate to? Possibly you feel inauthentic in your relationships with others or in the roles that you find yourself in. Human connection is something that we all need and strive for and yet is difficult to obtain at times especially with our fast-paced, individual-centric lives. The therapeutic relationship can provide a safe space to explore identities, challenge obstacles to connection and learn to overcome our difficulties in new and exciting ways.

I primarily work with children, parents, domestic violence survivors, trauma and special needs/disabilities.
The first step towards seeking therapy for you, or your loved ones is challenging. Therapy isn't linear and won't look the same for anyone. I'm a therapist who strongly believes each session will look different and adapts to your needs in that moment. I use evidence-based intervention in sessions, though I will also be in that moment with you.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
