My passion is working with children and families, helping them to relate better with one another or to cope with normal family issues in healthier ways. I believe all clients possess the potential to improve their lives. My goal is to offer support and strategies so that clients can decide for themselves what is appropriate for them. I hope to help adult clients gain perspective and understanding of their lives so they are empowered to make meaningful changes for themselves. I now also specialize in working with neurodivergent children and adults. My office is in Missouri, and I offer Telehealth in KS or MO. I have openings!

I know it can be challenging and overwhelming to seek therapy, but you deserve to explore healing, self-compassion and hope. I believe in the potential for all humans to grow and change and would like to embark on a journey with you to ease the suffering in your life. Many circumstances and events from our past or in our present can create obstacles to our sense of peace with ourselves. You may be feeling alone, stuck, unworthy, scared or angry. I can offer an integrative approach that is not a "one-size-fits all", but rather one based on your unique needs and history.

The people I see often feel worried, confused, sad, angry, or struggle with similar feelings. Many have lost a loved one or are in a troubled relationship. Others struggle with depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, or trauma. Still others seek meaning and purpose. Regardless of the problem or mix of problems, the goal is to have a richer, more satisfying life. As well as listening with care, my style is to talk openly, sharing my thoughts and feelings about you and your situation. I bring a lifetime of success and failure, joys and sorrows, to my work.

Maybe you’ve already spent years in therapy. You understand your patterns, know where they came from, and have gained a lot of insight, yet something still feels stuck. Sometimes understanding the pattern is only part of the work. I work with adults ready to go beyond insight and explore what the body and nervous system may be holding. Through Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, mindfulness, and parts and attachment work, we’ll slow down, get curious, and explore the sensations, emotions, and protective patterns that may not have shifted through talking alone.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
