If you are tired of feeling stuck, frustrated, overwhelmed, anxious or just unsure of where your emotions are, therapy can help! Ruminating, negative and intrusive thoughts can control our lives and make us feel helpless. Therapy can help with recognizing these thoughts and emotions and what they mean to you. "Knowing yourself" is the goal in treatment, so you can understand the feelings and reactions to improve your self-esteem, coping skills, and feelings of self-worth. I enjoy working with people of all ages, including children 8 and up to do all of this. Everyone can benefit from a therapeutic relationship. Let's do this.

I like to work with people who are internally motivated to learn and grow and desire to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Whatever challenges they are facing I want them to know that working with me will at some point mean paying attention to and allowing themselves to feel their feelings. A conscious relationship with self is had through attending to the feelings we have about ourselves. Understanding feelings will be essential in generating improved self-awareness and a sense of personal integrity.

As we live, we write the stories of our lives. Sometimes the pen gets too heavy. Sometimes we don’t know where to start… or how to continue. And then there’s writer’s block, the faltering of the creative process somewhere in our hearts, our minds, our bodies producing dis-orders and dis-eases. Maybe you have lost a Loved one. Maybe you’re starting a new relationship. Maybe you want a new job. Maybe you just want change. I believe the remedy is in the beliefs/feelings, thoughts, and behaviors fueling the writer’s block or dis-ease, and I am a dis-ease specialist.

The goal of my approach to therapy is to get your defense system out of the way so that you can operate out of your true sense of self, begin to create boundaries, and make choices truly reflective of your own wants and needs. When you achieve this, you no longer need to rely upon the destructive coping techniques previously used to prevent your full evolution and integration of body, mind, and spirit.

We all need help sometimes. Are you struggling with anxiety, trauma, life changes, issues around gender and/or sexual orientation, or relationships with unhealthy dynamics? I help people to work through things that may be getting in the way of what they want for their life. My hope for everyone is that they find more peace, strength, and joy in life. If you happen to be looking for early morning appointment times, I recently shifted my schedule and have multiple early times open.

After 28 years of counseling individuals, couples and families, and growing the love in a 30+ year marriage myself, I feel privileged to say I specialize in "Relationships." I love inspiring people to look more within themselves for happiness, security, and value; and to understand that friction in relationships can help us grow, and grow closer. Those open to change benefit most; a healthy couple takes healthy people. I also see adults individually, many with relationship challenges, but also seeking help with concerns like low self worth, anxiety, sadness, depression, negative thoughts, addictions, feeling stuck/unfulfilled.

If your behavior does not reflect your core potential, make this your day to initiate personal growth & evolutionary change. Learn how to discover and employ your personal power to activate transformation! As a Personal Empowerment Coach, I help clients learn cognitive restructuring and behavior modification techniques to release their "authentic self" making change operational in their everyday life. I address physical, mental, emotional & spiritual issues through a wellness paradigm vs. symptom treatment approach. My philosophy is framed from a strength based perspective, "what's well with you" not "what's wrong with you".

I have worked with many individuals, and couples over the past 34 years to help navigate the "ups and downs" of life and relationships. I work with couples who want to improve communication skills, conflict resolution, parenting, recovery from addiction or infidelity, and more. I work with individuals who want to improve self esteem, reduce negative self talk, improve work/career and love and life choices. I began my career in the substance abuse field. I find it an honor to journey with someone as they seek personal growth, healing in relationships and peace with their life choices.

Life is unpredictable. Everyone struggles at some point in life. Sometimes the accompanying suffering tears at the very fabric of our understanding of ourselves and how we fit in the world. Life no longer makes sense. Life is not the way you thought it would be or should be. Unbidden desires, anxieties or depression come in to interfere with your ability to live the life you want. Others in your life behave in ways that disrupt your peace of mind and ability to live a meaningful life. Issues you thought you had dealt with long ago resurface in the present.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.
How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.
Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.
What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
