If you are tired of feeling stuck, frustrated, overwhelmed, anxious or just unsure of where your emotions are, therapy can help! Ruminating, negative and intrusive thoughts can control our lives and make us feel helpless. Therapy can help with recognizing these thoughts and emotions and what they mean to you. "Knowing yourself" is the goal in treatment, so you can understand the feelings and reactions to improve your self-esteem, coping skills, and feelings of self-worth. I enjoy working with people of all ages, including children 8 and up to do all of this. Everyone can benefit from a therapeutic relationship. Let's do this.

You are a successful career woman who is fighting anxiety every stinking day. You say “yes” without considering your schedule or your needs. You worry all of the time about what others think about you and you tend to act differently depending on who you are around. You are scared of being rejected or abandoned, and you spend way too much time in your head replaying conversations you’ve had, fearful that you said something wrong. You doubt yourself frequently and hate to make decisions! Your body has a lot of tension and you’ve been to your doctor or an ER because you thought you were having a heart attack. Time to invest in you.

I counsel adults struggling with anxiety, indecision, self esteem , trauma, grief/loss, infertility, family of origin issues, and survivors of narcissistic abuse.
Everyone needs help sometimes. We use the resources, strategies, and supports that we have to work through the difficult times in life, but can reach the point where we need something more to face the challenges that we're up against. If you or someone you love is at a point where life's burdens have become too great, know that you're not alone. My goal as a therapist is to walk with you and help you carry those burdens by offering hope, support, and strategies to face your challenges. There is no better time to seek help.

Are you tired of answering the question "What's wrong?" One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can't speak. Together, we can find your voice and explore whatever brings you to counseling in a collaborative, safe and supportive setting. Mental health is just as critical as your physical health and you don't need to suffer in silence. You deserve an emotional check-up.

I believe children have an innate ability to grow in a positive direction. The child-therapist relationship is the element that encourages healing, where the child feels safe, supported, and is able to make those changes that lead to growth through exploring self (experiences, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors). When we meet a child's need, rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom. I focus on possibilities, strengths, and value differences through direct and indirect practices.

It isn’t easy to ask for help when you feel overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and unheard. I commend you for taking this first step. No longer do you need to feel alone or remain silent. We all need additional support from time to time, engaging in counseling is a wonderful way to get that support.

I consider it a great privilege to walk alongside my clients through the mountains & valleys of life. I can't promise to “fix” your problems, but I can promise you won't have to face them alone. My desire is that during our time together, you are able to share your pain & struggles without fear of judgment; and that you gain the courage to walk forward in life with the hope for a better tomorrow. I hope that you will feel safe to explore your story, emotions & fears.

Many successful women struggle with a pattern of toxic and abusive relationships. You feel invisible, unloveable, unseen, frustrated, and angry. You aren't valuing yourself as a result of having been devalued by people close to you, and you continue to find yourself in these types of unhealthy alliances - it's a toxic pattern that leaves you depleted, anxious and depressed. I want to help women BREAK OUT OF THAT CYCLE, and shift into a vibrant life that includes rewarding work, peace, joy, and happy healthy relationships.

Can life just stop being a shit show? You work your butt off for a job that you constantly feel the "Sunday Scaries" over, you come home to a sink full of dishes and somehow twice as much laundry than what you saw the basket this morning, your mom made yet another comment about the way you choose to parent your kids, and you can’t even remember the last time you had a real, guilt-free night out. It's all starting to close in on you and you wish you could just run. It would be so easy to just run, wouldn't it?

As a trained EMDR clinician and certified psychotherapist, I work with adults and adolescents (16+) struggling with conflict, intense feelings, and loneliness. My clients come to me feeling isolated, in pain, and on edge due to having nowhere to express their toughest emotions. Many grew up in a terrible family of origin with messages like "Suck it up" and "Don't cry" being taught to them. My clients come to me to say the things that they couldn't otherwise say to anyone else.

Does your child struggle with managing emotions? Are lagging social skills, anxiety, or acting out behaviors interfering with daily life? Are you feeling overwhelmed and at a loss for how to help? After spending 18 years as an early childhood educator in a local public school district, I transitioned to clinical therapy in order to work with families more directly in support of social/emotional skills and mental health. Counseling is a great opportunity for exploration and growth.

I know that asking for help can be a difficult process especially when it comes to the mental health of your child. We have all had times in our lives when we and/or our kids needed extra support to be healthier. I am a Private Practice Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist (aka: I have a lot of training and experience counseling kids). I enjoy helping kids who struggle with attachment issues and/or have experienced trauma which is why I am trained in the two evidenced based trauma therapy treatments (TFCBT and EMDR) and in Theraplay Level 1 to grow relational attachment. Many of my clients are foster care or adopted kids.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
