I have a passion to assist you in overcoming adversity and facing your mental health concerns. Empathy, open-mindedness, and communication are my core values. My path to counseling began very young through my own personal experience with loss of life, which lead me to the path to helping others. I understand that missing our loved ones and being depressed is normal, and the key to grieving is to find a way to form a new relationship with the one we lost. In addition, through my collegiate student-athlete experience I understand the delicate balance of being a student-athlete, including the pressures that come along with it.

The ideal client who desire to be equipped and enabled to handle their issues independently. The client has the ability to solve their life's puzzle. My role is to assist the client to anchor the KEY piece(s) and help to develop their own coping skills . I have been helping people all of my life as a teacher, school counselor, and licensed professional counselor and hypnotherapist . Working with individuals, couples and families are areas in which I excel. Many practicing counselors do not blend traditional counseling practices with hypnotherapy. Using both approaches allows the client's mind to be "totally engaged."

Are you seeking someone who understands suffering? Whether recent loss, painful trauma or a moment of deep personal crisis, you'd like someone who has been there and understands what it takes to stand up again. Fundamentally, counseling is a relationship. And for many, the first relationship you have ever had where someone listens without judgment, meets you with genuine appreciation, and gives with no strings attached. Together we will get a clear picture of what to do next, then we can introduce powerful rapid change methods backed by research and put you on a path to growth, well-being and more fulfilling work and relationships.

At one point or another, we all experience hardship in life. Whether it is grief, anxiety, or relationship difficulties, I cannot think of a greater privilege than coming alongside people who are struggling. I love building relationships with people and have a passion for helping them build stronger, more lasting relationships in their lives. I enjoy working with families and couples who seek to strengthen their relationships. I also enjoy working with adults and teens as they seek to figure out the challenges they encounter. My hope is to be a safe place to walk with individuals through their current troubles.

Reaching out for support takes strength and courage. I respect this, and my aim is to create a calm, inviting atmosphere where a deep sense of trust can grow between client and therapist. I believe that pain shared is pain lessened and that people can and do recover from issues that have been troubling them for years. I have found that many people enter therapy not because of a complex mental health issue but because of a general feeling of life not being what they would like it to be. Let me be a catalyst of change for you.

Life, with all of its obligations, can feel so heavy. And when you’re disconnected from your partner, life feels even heavier. Maybe you’re afraid, deep down, that your partner no longer wants the life you’ve created with them. Maybe you worry that you constantly disappoint them. Perhaps the lack of sexual intimacy in your relationship has hurt for too long. When you’ve lost your connection to your person, it seems painfully impossible to get back on track, especially if there have been years of hurt and disconnection.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
