I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety , depression, setting goals, career changes, grief, break ups, infidelity, coping skills, substance use, transitioning, and much more.
A little about me, I am a licensed professional counselor. I received my Masters degree in Counseling and my Bachelors degree in Psychology. I know that reaching out for counseling is very difficult. It takes so much courage to talk with someone about the amount of help that is needed. I use a strength-based approach that will focuses more on positive characteristics and contributions while tackling any barriers to success. I will help identify boundaries and provide insight to issues that may be withholding clients happiness. I empower my clients so they are able to cope with stressors in a healthy way.

I offer talk therapy and play therapy to neuro typical and neuro divergent children with anxiety , confidence, grief, anger, relationship struggles, and trauma.
I believe children have an innate ability to grow in a positive direction. The child-therapist relationship is the element that encourages healing, where the child feels safe, supported, and is able to make those changes that lead to growth through exploring self (experiences, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors). When we meet a child's need, rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom. I focus on possibilities, strengths, and value differences through direct and indirect practices.

My specialty is Grief, Depression, Anxiety , Trauma, First Responders and Sports/School/Job Performance.
I have a passion to assist you in overcoming adversity and facing your mental health concerns. Empathy, open-mindedness, and communication are my core values. My path to counseling began very young through my own personal experience with loss of life, which lead me to the path to helping others. I understand that missing our loved ones and being depressed is normal, and the key to grieving is to find a way to form a new relationship with the one we lost. In addition, through my collegiate student-athlete experience I understand the delicate balance of being a student-athlete, including the pressures that come along with it.

If you need to address any personal issues such as anxiety , depression, anger, adolescent development , sexual identity, marriage conflicts, and the consequences of divorce; I am eager to assist you.
The ideal client who desire to be equipped and enabled to handle their issues independently. The client has the ability to solve their life's puzzle. My role is to assist the client to anchor the KEY piece(s) and help to develop their own coping skills . I have been helping people all of my life as a teacher, school counselor, and licensed professional counselor and hypnotherapist . Working with individuals, couples and families are areas in which I excel. Many practicing counselors do not blend traditional counseling practices with hypnotherapy. Using both approaches allows the client's mind to be "totally engaged."

Although starting counseling can be a difficult, sometimes scary decision, I believe that walking into a counselor's office takes strength and courage. I work with adult clients who have experienced ADHD, anxiety , depression, OCD, and substance abuse to grow in their confidence and understanding of themselves and I work with them to develop skills they can utilize to reach their therapy goals. Through our sessions, clients feel empowered, make choices aligned with their goals, and can create healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
