I offer therapy for
women
, moms, teens girls and parents of teens that is focused on helping you to decrease your stress, get perspective and work through any obstacles that might be holding you back.
You stepped into your adulthood with the dream of building a full and happy life. Now, it feels like that is just a fantasy. You are struggling with anxiety or depression and maybe even trauma. You might be spread very thin between children, family roles and career. Some days you may feel so exhausted, that you are in survival mode. I would love to talk with you about catching your breath and learning to prioritize what is really important to you and to create more time and space for the happy and fulfilling life that YOU deserve.

I have been personally affected by a high risk pregnancy, a traumatic birth and a NICU stay. That is what has led me to this work. For the past eleven years, my work has been with perinatal mental health; specifically working with
women
with high risk pregnancies due to a congenital anomaly identified in their baby during pregnancy. I am here to help anyone that is struggling with feelings of angst and unrest about those unexpected challenges that are thrown your way. I have worked a great deal with perinatal and infant loss as well. I have a growing passion for helping
women
, specifically focusing on maternal mental health.

My general approach with working with clients for over 17 years is highly individualized, relational and strengthen based. I believe most clients simply need an environment to communicate, process feelings and gain insight in order to create a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I offer individual therapy for adolescents, adults and family therapy. My passion has always been treating eating disorders and the underlying causes such as depression and anxiety. Another clinical passion and area of focus has been assisting
women
and mothers with identity development and navigating life transitions.

Hi there, I am here to help you. I work with individuals, couples, and families with struggles ranging from current life issues, relationship struggles, and issues that have been a lifelong battle. Clients often come to me because they have hit the lowest point and have never felt more alone, even after trying therapy countless times before. Many clients have left counseling finding resolution and a drive to live their life to the fullest. My clients have expressed finding healing, feeling equipped to manage life, and having healthier relationships and connections with others that they previously thought weren't possible.

I've assisted
women
and their partners with handling intense symptoms related to postpartum adjustment, infertility, and pregnancy loss.
I often work with people to manage issues in their lives that have become difficult and distressing, such as separation/divorce, career/job changes, grief/loss, relocation, becoming a parent, and retirement. Some clients experience symptoms of anxiety or depression and we focus on realistic, practical strategies to reduce their intensity and impact. My approach involves closely assessing how these issues impact daily life, how relationships are affected, what support has or hasn't been available and then develop a plan for working toward changes and greater satisfaction in life.

Welcome! I’m Allison and I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, & co-occurring addictions in a warm, inclusive & safe environment. We all have experiences from our past that have had a fragmenting impact on our lives, but the past doesn't have to define who we are or dictate who we are becoming. I believe you have an innate capacity to heal and grow into your best, most authentic self using therapy as a tool. Working together, we can identify ways of decreasing your symptoms, increasing your coping skills, addressing root cause(s), & most importantly, shifting self-sabotaging and/or addictive behavioral patterns.

Welcome! I’m so grateful you’re here. I believe deeply in the inherent worth and healing capacity of all human beings. I view the therapeutic relationship as a sacred, expansive, and co-created space that allows us to show up authentically, get curious, engage with vulnerability, and step into our power. I believe that within therapy, we work to expand our capacity to be in relationship with ourselves and the world around us. As your trauma-informed therapist, you can expect me to show up authentically as a human first and foremost.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
