Sometimes we all feel a little bit broken, we can get so caught up in what's going wrong or what's not working. Sometimes life get's hard, too much stress at home or work, relationship issues, grief and loss, addiction, depression,
anxiety
or feeling like we have just lost our way. No matter what is going on, you have taken that first step and you have come to the right place.

I work with adolescent’s through adult age clients who are struggling with
anxiety
, depression, eating disorders, stress, life changes, and self esteem.
I believe in providing a safe space for my clients to work towards their goals. By providing a safe space to open up about vulnerable topics my goal is to assist you in learning how to challenge maladaptive coping strategies and replace them with adaptive ones. In counseling the process to work towards change can be scary and difficult and that is why my number one goal as a therapist is providing a safe and inviting space to open up.I believe in using a person-centered approach, which means allowing you to guide the sessions. I have found that allowing you to build rapport and work towards your goals it fosters the most change.

anxiety
, substance use, other negative behaviors affecting daily functioning, or major life changes I am here and ready to support you.
Life can often become overwhelming. If you continue down the path you are headed your overall health and mental well-being most likely will continue if you do not change direction. Often the people and experiences we encounter lead to beliefs about ourselves and the world that aren't accurate. Change is possible; we all have the capability to heal. Creating a non-judgmental space for you to explore, heal, and grow is a priority. Therapy is a highly individualized process; it is all about you and working collaboratively to achieve your goals. I am here when you are ready! Being fully present to assist you would be an honor.

Anxiety
doesn't have to be something you just "deal with" daily.
Mental health is for everyone - seriously! I work with individuals with a variety of mental health diagnosis and concerns. Some people come to counseling to process a traumatic event, some come to talk about the stress they're experiencing at their job, and some come just to learn about why they haven't been feeling their best emotionally lately. If you feel like you could even pin-point exactly why you feel how you do, but it just doesn't make it better, I'm the counselor for you. I don't just help you figure out why, I help you DO something with what you learn about yourself so you can move past any barriers you have.

I have worked extensively with children, teens, adults, and families dealing with issues such as
anxiety
, depression, stress, self-harm, suicidal ideation, trauma, parenting issues, relationship problems, and more.
I often say, counseling can be a bit like cleaning out a closet. You have to take things out, go through and organize them, and then put them back where they need to go. In a similar fashion, counseling can be messy, but with time and hard work, can lead to healthier, more enjoyable living. Throughout this life, we all have our individual struggles and hardships, but we weren't meant to carry them alone. No matter who you are or what you've been through, there is hope. In our sessions together, I strive to come alongside you in the pursuit of that hope and restorative healing.

My mission is to meet you where you are and empower you to continue your desired journey by triumphing over challenges, such as
anxiety
, depression, and PTSD.
Lately have you looked in the mirror and not recognized the person staring back? Perhaps, found yourself doing things that are out of character like yelling at your child(ren), significant other, or friends/other loved ones, or doing hurtful things to yourself or others and yet you don’t understand why. You tell yourself: (1) I am fine -after taking/responding to that 911/emergency call; (2) Yes, what I saw while deployed was horrible, but that is the nature of what we do and I am home now so everything is ok; or (3) Surely that loss or experience 10 years ago has no effect on me now, it’s in the past..... And yet here you are

Are you achieving your goals and truly living your best life? If you answered yes, then you have discovered a secret that many often spend a lifetime trying to find. If you answered no to that question or just aren’t sure, then you are not alone! The truth is we all struggle with something whether it be mental, physical or combination of both. The issue is when those struggles become a focal point in our life which prevents us from focusing on our purpose and achieving joy and happiness. My goal is to help you identify those barriers and work together to find solutions so you can live a life you are truly happy with!

Anxiety

Many of my clients have
anxiety
that presents as overthinking, indecision, self-criticism, and deriving worth from performance. The self-doubt and rumination can be emotionally exhausting and contribute to overwhelm, depression, and unhelpful coping patterns. We often identify earlier life experiences that formed a belief of not being good enough, capable, or worthy of love. If this sounds like you, we might be a good fit for therapy. In my practice, I primarily utilize relationally and developmentally informed Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to uncover and approach deeply held core beliefs developed throughout the lifespan.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
