Life can be overwhelming and challenges may seem insurmountable. It may be difficult to find a way through the barriers that are standing in the way of your personal happiness. Intense emotions like anxiety, depression, and anger can make managing stressful situations even more difficult. Maladaptive coping strategies like emotionally shutting down, perfectionism, critical thinking, alcohol and drug use, self-sabotage and communication breakdowns can increase feelings of isolation and loneliness. Reaching out for help takes strength and courage. Therapy can help you find a way through the barriers that are holding you back.

I believe that most people at some time can benefit from talking with a professional about emotional problems that they are encountering, although many persons I see worry that there is something "wrong" with them and feel they should be able to improve their situations thembselves. Difficulties in relationships, problems concerning work or recovering from bad experiences can be painful parts of life and talking about them can hasten change and improvement. As we develop a relationship with one another and reflect about the problems together, over time, I have found that people discover new ways of meeting the challenges that brought them to me.

I enjoy helping clients look inward, understand their role in the challenges they face, and identify innate strengths they can use to overcome them. We generally make peace with what we understand, so when unease seems to persist in our lives, it can often point to something internal that we have yet to acknowledge. My aim is simply to help others identify and integrate these parts of themselves into their lives.

If you are looking for an “out of the box” type of counselor, then I would love to work with you. Therapy is about meeting you where you are and if that means you need a listening ear as you process something deep, someone to help guide you to the best possible you, or someone who is going to hold you accountable, than look no further, because that is exactly what you will get. Therapy is not one size fits all, so I use many different modalities of therapy to help you navigate life’s ebbs and flows.

I work with individuals and families, supporting clients across the lifespan. With adults, I understand that “adulting” can be hard. Therapy can be a positive outlet to explore new coping strategies, develop a self-care routine, and process life stressors or past trauma. I believe in sitting with you through the hard stuff; offering support, insight, and space to work toward your therapeutic goals and long-term growth. With children and adolescents, I focus on connection and collaboration. I work closely with parents and guardians as a team to create individualized treatment plans. I see all behavior as a form of communication, and

Life is full of challenges that can be difficult to navigate on your own. Many people feel disconnected from themselves and from others resulting in pain, frustration and difficulty knowing how to move forward. I provide a safe and supportive environment to explore how your experiences, patterns and beliefs have shaped you and to move towards creating a life that feels more whole, balanced and aligned with who you are. Therapy with me is relational and our connection is at the heart of our work. Growth begins when you can show up authentically and allow all parts of yourself to be heard.

Do you feel like you're surfing the waves of life or getting smacked in the face by them? If it's the latter, you're in the right place. I draw from evidence-based models like CBT and ACT (translation: solid tools that work), with a strong focus on mindfulness, self-compassion, and personal accountability. And if you're a creative type - or just open to trying something different - I love weaving in art-making to help engage your whole brain in the healing process.

In couples therapy, the goal is to create "a safe haven" in your relationship. In Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the focus is on meeting your core needs— to feel connected, secure, and heard. This foundation helps you address issues with honesty and safety with your partner. Once a strong sense of connection is built, you'll be better equipped to handle conflict and any challenging emotions that may arise during therapy. With less defensiveness, you'll be in a stronger position to work through problems and foster healing.

The clients I have worked with have a variety of issues. Usually these are related to their self confidence and can be impacted by their relationships with parents, teammates, coaches, teachers and competitors. They typically want assistance at guiding them to understand their goals, strengths, weaknesses, fears, distractions and stressors. We will work thru their communication with others, their preparation, focus, attitude and self confidence. Most clients want to understand where their issues started, find solutions to them and ways to be more confident and happy with themselves and accomplishing their personal goals.
