I work with adults who want to make changes, deal with anxiety, depression, old hurts and current stressors. I work with parents struggling with
parenting
anxiety, feeling bad or worried about the ways your children are affected by some of these challenging times. And I work with adolescents who aren’t sure how to take their next steps. - I am supervising a licensed masters level therapist that provides virtual therapy at a discounted cost. Please ask me about this if you are interested in meeting with her.

I have been in private practice for over twenty years. During those years I have counseled both individual clients and couples with a variety of issues. These issues include relationship issues, life transitions, abuse, depression, eating disorders, grief, stress, anxiety, sexual identity, and
parenting
issues. I believe we all go through difficult periods in our lives where we need someone to talk to who can give understanding, support, guidance, tools, and suggestions. I believe that counseling can often help our lives become less painful but instead become more hopeful and fulfilling.

Trauma, abuse, codependent relationships, anxiety, and
parenting
are my specialties.
I want you to know what it’s like to live a life of healing. If you feel like you are drowning, overwhelmed, exhausted, or resentful - I can help. Together we will roll up our sleeves and get to work. It will get a little messy, but I’m not scared of the mess. I will support you while you learn to love the things you have previously hidden. Your pain, your thoughts, and your behaviors can all make sense when we explore them with kind curiosity. It is time to take off the shackles of your past, and live tomorrow more free than you were yesterday.

Though I've been licensed for six years, I have nearly ten years of experience working with people in a therapeutic capacity. I've had the opportunity to work with clients facing an array of challenges, including overwhelming stress, divorce,
parenting
challenges, housing or food insecurity, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience working with survivors of childhood abuse (physical, sexual, and emotional), domestic violence, and sexual assault. I am familiar with the challenges of the foster care/adoptive system. I tend to be a good fit for clients looking for a space to process/organize their thoughts and feelings.

Are you feeling worried, frustrated, or overwhelmed by the roller coaster ride that comes with
parenting
a teenager? Have you spent many sleepless nights worried about your teen’s mood swings, acting out, grades, or who they are hanging out with? Maybe you feel helpless because you’ve tried everything to help your teen and nothing seems to be working. As a
parent
of six kids ranging in ages from 19-29, I know those feelings, those worries all too well.
Parenting
is hard work; teenagers don’t come with a manual. Many of us feel like we are doing it all wrong or that the problems our teen's experience reflect our
parenting
skills.

All Daring Way facilitators have completed training certification process led by Brené Brown & TDW Faculty- focusing on developing shame resilience skills & daily practices to transform the way we love,

It’s okay to say, "I'm not okay." If trying to return to “normal life” post pandemic is harder than you thought & you’re sad or anxious and not sure why- you are not alone. Life is messy but good therapy ends. Maybe your life looks nothing like it did two years ago & you’re reeling and only now catching your breath and struggling to breathe. Maybe your life looks the same and you feel different but you’re stuck, overwhelmed and don’t know what to do next. What we allow will continue & lasting change requires work. Often starting the work & reaching out is a daunting task but when we avoid our stories, that's when they define us.

If you find yourself feeling stuck or overwhelmed with
parenting
, you are in the right place.
Accepting new clients! I'm so glad you are here. The hardest part of getting help is reaching out to make that first appointment and you are one step closer. Childhood mental health issues have been rising for awhile now and we saw an even bigger increase the past few years. Not only are our children struggling, it is hard work learning to
parent
our children with mental health needs. Navigating depression, anxiety, mood swings, trauma, etc is not meant to be done alone. I believe in working alongside you, your child, and family as we tackle issues together.

Change is an inevitable part of life. Transitions are as natural as night and day. In nature we observe times when things move slowly without visable change - and then suddenly acceleration occurs followed by a transformation. I am a therapist/professional counselor who works with individuals ranging from childhood through late adulthood, couples, and families to assist them in finding personal growth, and work confidently through the natural transitions life brings. I recognize each client as unique and direct my counseling to the whole person; which attends to the body, mind, and spirit of each.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
