Life is hard. When we are faced with challenges, we can become discouraged, stuck, and even hopeless. Asking for help is also scary, and for some, a gamble. However, I believe if you take a leap of faith and reach out, you may find that one person who understands and wants to join you in finding solutions that could help "reset" your life. Allow me to be that sounding board and assist you in seeking ways to cope with life transitions, stress, anxiety, low self worth,
codependency
, inner family problems, addiction, depression.

My specialty is self-esteem, effectiveness in relationships, substance use disorder/
codependency
, trauma, depression, anxiety and other disorders.
I believe that we all reach places in our lives where we are learning, unlearning and possibly relearning the existential areas of: who am I, what do I want, and what are my barriers & blind spots? Some may need support identifying or answering these questions cause they can be overwhelming. We often develop limitations in efforts to cope with grief, stress, control, hurt & relationships. So do you wonder,"What might be getting in my way or holding me back?", or "What I am avoiding?" or "Do I want to be more effective in my relationship?" Therapy can support you when you are answering these incredibly rich questions for yourself.

Supporting individuals suffering from anxiety/depression, professional/academic problems, interpersonal conflicts, and
codependency
problems to become successful is what I do!.
Is the stress and anxiety of life getting you down? Does it seem like you will never overcome the emotional and physical pain you are experiencing? Are you stuck in behavioral patterns that derail financial success, impede relationships, and sabotage professional and personal growth? Pessimism, sadness, anger, and frustration, are real emotions with consequences, sometimes severe. They prevent you from enjoying your best life. Feeling stuck, unloved/cared for, worthless, and a failure is no fun. If it seems you are destined to live out this unfulfilling and, at times, hopeless life; take heart. Hope is just a phone call away!

Do you ever wish others would put in half of the effort you put in into the relationship? Are you tired of initiating plans and not being reciprocated? Do you feel like you don’t have a voice or even feel you don’t know who you are anymore? People-pleasing behaviors may have kept us safe from conflicts and dangers but could have also costed us resentment, low self-esteem, anger, anxiety, and depression. What if we can learn to love ourselves the way we love others? What if self-love doesn’t mean we stop caring for others, but we start caring for ourselves the way we deserve to be?

There are few joys greater than interpersonal freedom. Living unabashedly and authentically as you deserve and desire. This is our true heritage as humans. When we are barraged daily to find this freedom externally by our culture, (perhaps friends and family) and then osmotically transfer it inward we are left deeply lacking. It never works. The cost of freedom and to a higher level of awareness about ourselves is called work. W-O-R-K! The digging deep kind of work. Working to let go of anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, or whatever repeatedly binds us to a negative narrative from the past that no longer serves the present.

I focus on the 'working alliance' between counselor and client, not merely a conversation, but a powerful space of unconditional personal acceptance, building relevant goals, fostering honest curiosity, and exploring new perspectives. As your counselor, I'd like to help you feel equipped and empowered toward meaningful change. My goal is to be open minded with therapeutic approaches that can work, sometimes it resembles the structure of Cognitive Behavior Therapy for anxiety, sometimes it may be more about the creativity of two people truly communicating (or learning what that looks like) and working on a problem than a technique.

It's hard to find a therapist. Especially when you're not feeling your best. I applaud you for getting this far. Now it's time to invest in your relationship with yourself. I know what it’s like to feel alone with your problems. Maybe you have no one to talk to. Or maybe you feel bad making your friends, your family, or your partner listen to your problems again. I know what that feels like, and I’m here. I’m ready to listen. It’s time to let go of anxiety, sadness, frustration, anger, and shame. I want to process these things with you. You don’t have to go through this alone anymore.

I’m the person you want to see when you are ready to be challenged, encouraged, and guided through your life story. I’m someone who understands why we behave the way we do, and that these behaviors are learned and adaptive. There is nothing wrong with you, and I am here to challenge your thoughts against this. I genuinely enjoy working with clients who have found themselves in a place they didn't think they would be. I will walk you through what is happening in your life, not around it. I help my clients learn who they are, navigate their own needs and desires, and learn how to walk through life with compassion for themselves.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
