I am passionate about working with those who have experienced (or witnessed) sexual trauma and/ or those with chronic pelvic floor
pain
.
Maybe you’re unsure if what you’ve experienced would be classified as “trauma”. You tell yourself you haven’t had it that bad…and yet, you notice a sense of unease in your body whenever past moments creep into your mind. Or perhaps a complete separation from feeling at all when certain sensations occur in your body. After being told there isn’t an explanation for your
chronic pain
, you’ve been left feeling even more unsure of yourself. You want connection and a healthy relationship/ sex life but something you can’t quite name is holding you back. I am here to help as you make sense of your story and find true healing.

Are you having stress and overwhelm in the roles you perform in life? Is past
pain
causing current problems in your relationships? I can help you address your struggles and gain the support you need.
It can be difficult to gain the support we need to face life's many challenges. Many husbands and fathers are lonely, stressed, or confused about their relationships. The role of mother caring for children or daughter for an elderly parent can feel relentless. Perhaps you have
pain
you've pushed away for many years making you feel trapped or lost. Counseling can provide the opportunity to safely discuss and express the things we do not or cannot share in our day to day lives. I utilize an interpersonal and solutions focused approach to help unpack your struggles, process your
pain
, and build practical strategies to move forward.

Being a human in this world is hard. My office (even when it’s virtual) is a place where your
pain
and your joy are both welcome. You get to bring the messy, unfiltered, and stuck parts of yourself. The parts you hide from everyone else. You get to take off the mask. All of you is welcome. So often, without even realizing it, we become disconnected from our true Self. We lose touch with the things that bring us joy. We no longer know how to act in alignment with our values. Trauma can take this away from us. But we can come back. Back to our aliveness. Back to our intuition. Back to our true Self. And it is a journey worth taking.

Sometimes life is hard. We experience stress, difficult experiences, wounding in relationships, and trauma along with many other experiences. We carry these with us and they show up in our daily lives - in our thoughts, emotions, physical body, relationships with others, relationship with our self. Maybe you've noticed feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Weighed down. Maybe anxious. Maybe you've noticed patterns in your relationships. Maybe physical discomfort and
pain
. Tension in your body. Maybe you're curious about what you're noticing. Or maybe you’re curious about who YOU are – the authentic you.

Psychotherapy is for individuals who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives. Some individuals seek out therapy to improve their lives and to help recognize and remove barriers to a healthy lifestyle, relationships, and productivity. While others find that troubling symptoms of anxiety, depression, failed relationships,
chronic pain
, and loss are too intense to manage on their own. I work with individuals presenting with a range of emotional and psychological needs in a safe and respectful atmosphere. I respect and encourage individuals' motivation to change and help them develop their own internal resources to make lasting positive changes.

I help people gain freedom from their issues with a revolutionary technique taught by my mentor, Marisa Peer, voted Britain’s best therapist. With RTT I can fix anything from skin conditions to weight issues, to phobias, to addictions, to chronic
illness
and disease, in just 1-3 sessions. I’m still seeing traditional therapy clients, but since my accreditation in RTT, I’m focusing on moving my practice to exclusively RTT and coaching clients. My target client includes anyone who has been unable to fix or heal from any type of issue, they’ve tried other ways, but have been unsuccessful! RTT is the missing link that can free you!

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.
What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.
Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.
How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
