I have been a practicing clinical social worker for the past eight years, and I firmly hold the belief that meeting my clients where they're at is essential to helping them improve. It's for this reason that my ideal client is someone who desires an understanding of their mental health condition, is ready to make changes, and understands that therapy is a process and they're willing to take that journey together. I work best with people who would like help with treating a range of Eating Disorders, Obsessive and Compulsive Disorders, and Mood Disorders such as
anxiety
and depression.

My therapeutic style is ideal for clients looking to reconnect with themselves on all levels. Clients should come curious about identifying emotional and psychological blocks, as well as where trauma, tension,
anxiety
, or depression is stored in the physical body. I specialize in treating people who are struggling with
anxiety
, depression, illness, death, sexual assault survivors, and bi-polar. I frequently work with women who are trying to stabilize their body and mind after childbirth, trauma, or menapause. All are welcome.

I am a seasoned clinician who, for over 35 years, has empowered clients to lead more meaningful and productive lives. If you suffer from
anxiety
, trauma, or depression, or if you find interpersonal relationships to be challenging and unsatisfying, talking with an experienced psychotherapist can drastically improve the quality of your life. Therapy is an opportunity to gain insight into the workings of your mind, to better understand how your internal reality shapes your external one (and vice versa). If some introspection has opened you to the possibility of therapy, the chances are already very good that you would benefit from it.

Life is beautiful even through all its struggles and disappointments. I believe the connections we make with others give us purpose and drive to fulfill our dreams. Though sometimes our intentions do not manifest and we become stagnant and distressed. In my therapy I like to focus on what we can control...ourselves. To take a look inward and view our most delicate
fears
, insecurities, and desires can be a lot of hard work. I approach each client with this recognition and strive to make a true connection to help foster self-improvement and life satisfaction.

Are you struggling with self-acceptance, insomnia,
anxiety
, trauma, gender/sexuality, control, relationship, or attachment issues? Maybe you're struggling to find your sense of purpose. And let’s face it, this is sort of like match.com for therapy. You’re looking for someone who you’ll vibe with who can really understand you. Someone to laugh and cry with you, too. It can be difficult to open up to a complete stranger, yet you’re willing to be vulnerable because you know you need to make a change.

I specialize in
anxiety
, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, self harm, suicidal ideation and much more.
Accepting new clients! I'm so glad you are here. The hardest part of getting help is reaching out to make that first appointment and you are one step closer. Childhood mental health issues have been rising for awhile now and we saw an even bigger increase the past few years. Not only are our children struggling, it is hard work learning to parent our children with mental health needs. Navigating depression,
anxiety
, mood swings, trauma, etc is not meant to be done alone. I believe in working alongside you, your child, and family as we tackle issues together.

Mental health is part of your physical health. You cannot have one without the other. No one is exempt from facing mental health struggles at one time or another in their life. It is not uncommon during times of mental health struggles, either it be an isolated incident of
panic
, short-term and long-term
anxiety
, tragedy, situational depression, or circumstances that were out of your control that caused you to have a "new normal." Therapy will alleviate these stressors through a process of personal insight, change, and opening your eyes to a new way of seeing your life and how you react to it.

Maybe you’ve tried everything. You’ve spent the last of your energy and hope. It feels like depression and
anxiety
are winning. Or drugs or alcohol are taking over. It’s a scary place to be. And can feel lonely. But you don’t have to be alone. I work with clients in this scary place and am unafraid to step into these challenges with you. You already have the strength and courage to do this. I can help you find your own way to make different choices for yourself and make your situation better.

I'm trained in "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing" (EMDR--for trauma,
anxiety
, among other issues).
I provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy services. Though I understand the value of "diagnosing" a person's particular problem, I'm definitely against labeling a person as such. A person's difficulties--you name it:
anxiety
, trauma, depression--is what it means in part to be human. Everyone has some type of challenge, to various degrees (and certainly, some more than others). What a client requires, in many cases, is adequate resolution about negative things that has happened to him or her in life. Also, clients often need new skills in dealing with life's current and future expected challenges.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
