Digging around in the beliefs, struggles, and fears you hold can be painful and exhausting.
Stuck. Trapped. Controlling. Anxious. Over it. Apathetic. Do you find yourself resonating with these words? Maybe you feel yourself enraged at little things your partner or kids do, and then hating yourself after you snap. Perhaps you used to get excited about a weekend brunch, meeting a friend for a coffee, or strolling Target alone - but now you only feel apathetic and empty. What if you could find your spark again? Does that sound possible? Maybe going back to where you used to be isn’t even your goal: maybe your goal is the ability to be present, without nagging anxieties and crippling depression. Either way, therapy can help.

I am an attachment based and client-centered therapist who specializes in anxiety , depression, OCD and relational distress.
Feeling stuck, chaotic, overwhelmed, purposeless, anxious? Do you ever find yourself doing the same things over and over wishing you would have a different outcome? Do you feel consumed by your thoughts? Do you feel like you and your partner just don’t get each other? Often time asking for help and finding help is overwhelming. You want to make a change, make things better, but you don’t know how. You want to feel like you again - not to just keep surviving, but start living intentionally and passionately. You want the anxiety , the intrusive thoughts and the sleepless nights to end - to be present with yourself and your loved ones.

I commonly treat issues related to anxiety , identity work (who am I and how do I live authentically), family conflict, loss of connection in relationships, trauma, depression, stress, grief, and shame.
Do you spend all of your energy focusing on other people's feelings or opinions that it feels impossible to consider your own feelings and needs? Is your goal to make sure everyone else is happy even if it means there's no time or space for you? Maybe the weight of people's expectations is heavy and exhausting, so exhausting it’s impacting your relationships with your partner, family, & yourself. It’s your turn. So many parts of you have been working hard for so long. Together, we can begin working towards experiencing yourself and your relationships as life-giving and authentic instead of draining. You deserve this.

Are you struggling with self-acceptance, insomnia, anxiety , trauma, gender/sexuality, control, relationship, or attachment issues? Maybe you're struggling to find your sense of purpose. And let’s face it, this is sort of like match.com for therapy. You’re looking for someone who you’ll vibe with who can really understand you. Someone to laugh and cry with you, too. It can be difficult to open up to a complete stranger, yet you’re willing to be vulnerable because you know you need to make a change.

Trauma, anxiety , relationship conflict and so many other things can impact our lives.
Woah, stop for a second. Are you searching for a therapist? That’s a big step. Take your time. Give yourself some credit for being willing to face what’s got you feeling stuck. If you’re looking for someone unafraid of facing it with you, I might be your person. I’m informed by many therapies (like emotion-focused, IFS, and collaborative) but authenticity is always guiding my work. I believe in my clients. And I know that you can feel better if you’re given the right environment. What might that look like? Let’s figure it out together.

I'm trained in "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing" (EMDR--for trauma, anxiety , among other issues).
I provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy services. Though I understand the value of "diagnosing" a person's particular problem, I'm definitely against labeling a person as such. A person's difficulties--you name it: anxiety , trauma, depression--is what it means in part to be human. Everyone has some type of challenge, to various degrees (and certainly, some more than others). What a client requires, in many cases, is adequate resolution about negative things that has happened to him or her in life. Also, clients often need new skills in dealing with life's current and future expected challenges.

Often times we find ourselves hurting, stuck, and confused. We all have places in our lives where we can tell ourselves one thing, but it feels impossible to actually believe what we are telling ourselves. Our fears and our worries take over our rational thoughts. We are kept from being who we really want to be. Sometimes, these fears are small, and the cost of giving into them doesn't amount to much. Other times, they are life changing and relationship shattering. We can't seem to get a grip on who we really are and our lives fall apart.

Trauma, abuse, codependent relationships, anxiety , and parenting are my specialties.
I want you to know what it’s like to live a life of healing. If you feel like you are drowning, overwhelmed, exhausted, or resentful - I can help. Together we will roll up our sleeves and get to work. It will get a little messy, but I’m not scared of the mess. I will support you while you learn to love the things you have previously hidden. Your pain, your thoughts, and your behaviors can all make sense when we explore them with kind curiosity. It is time to take off the shackles of your past, and live tomorrow more free than you were yesterday.

It's hard to find a therapist. Especially when you're not feeling your best. I applaud you for getting this far. Now it's time to invest in your relationship with yourself. I know what it’s like to feel alone with your problems. Maybe you have no one to talk to. Or maybe you feel bad making your friends, your family, or your partner listen to your problems again. I know what that feels like, and I’m here. I’m ready to listen. It’s time to let go of anxiety , sadness, frustration, anger, and shame. I want to process these things with you. You don’t have to go through this alone anymore.

We are all just walking each other home. While I bring a deep love for/nerd out about how we become us, you know you best. You've got the map and say where to go — I empower you to navigate, process, unpack and heal. We will work to make connections, identify patterns/themes and reframe old stories that no longer serve you. I am also trained in EMDR & approach therapy through a trauma-informed, systemic, anti-oppression lens, practicing cultural humility. I am a visionary curator of transformative experiences. If you have tried therapy before and are still struggling and/or are ready to change your trajectory, call me.

As a counseling psychologist with 10 years of experience I use a compassionate, collaborative and authentic approach to help clients meet their goals. I aim to create a safe and supportive environment for clients to fully and candidly express themselves in order to build an effective therapeutic relationship. I work with a range of clients who experience general life stress, stress related to life-events, relationships and communication problems. I also work with individuals who face marginalization based on their identity/group status, such as people of color and LGBT identified individuals.

Find what you truly seek. You've spent enough time searching. Let's get you out of this place. You see the traps you keep falling into, the ones you can’t make it through alone. You know better but need help to get there. Find liberation from your bad habits. Caring so much about meaningless thoughts, tangling yourself in webs of superficiality, losing yourself to old coping mechanisms. Be done with all of it. Let’s do something about those familiar grooves you get stuck in. I work with clients who can see their patterns and behaviors and know there’s a better way. You wanting to change and grow is the key ingredient.

I provide a specialty therapy for people with a high degree of self-control (perfectionists, introverts, worriers, and the notably stubborn). Can you have too much of a good thing? It turns out possessing too much self-control impairs our ability to relax, adapt to change, and connect to others. Humans have a fundamental need for fun and belonging, without it, we’re naturally depressed and anxious.

I provide a therapy called ERP (exposure and response prevention) for people with OCD. If you’re reading this, you probably know that OCD can take on a life of its own. My clients are trying their best to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, yet OCD can become incredibly time consuming and take attention away from the very activities and people that matter most. With treatment, my clients are increasingly able to feel a sense of safety in their lives and join others instead of needing to control the moment.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
