I have a great deal of experience working with anxiety disorders, domestic violence, women's issues, and grief and loss.
For the past 35 years, I have truly enjoyed helping individuals who really want to get well and are willing to work hard to achieve full recovery. I Have a Heart for helping Trauma Victims get to the root of the pain that keeps them stuck in their lives and relationships. Victims of Trauma often spend a lifetime reenacting their trauma in one relationship after another, until they finally give up on trying to "get it right".

I like to describe my style of a person-centered approach as coming along side you as we wander into what might feel like unknowns, painful wounds, or old familiarities. One thing is for certain, you won't be alone in whatever might surface. I enjoy working with clients who are interested in deep exploration of trauma, identity shifts, and the felt-sense of their experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, therapeutic space for you to explore parts of you that you naturally have curiosity to explore. Part of this process means coming together to uncover the road map that has shaped you into the human you are today.

As the sixth generation of my family to live in Howell County, I understand how foreign the concept of counseling may be to some people. Yet, as an Ozarker, I also understand the wit, humor, passion and intelligence of the people of this area, and I combine these traits with formal training and natural curiosity about people to create space for my clients to go through the healing process. Native Ozarker or not, it is my belief that everyone, at some point in their lives, will experience trauma, loss, or mental illness that is treatable through therapy.

Deadlines, demands, sickness. It feels like you can’t keep up. Everyone wants a piece of you and there is not enough to go around. You are exhausted and your mind won't shut off. The What if's overwhelm you... "What if I am not good enough? What if I let everyone down?" Your family, your job, your friends are counting on you. You may wonder, "When is it about what I need?" only to feel selfish and guilty about that too.

Life can be messy, and it is okay to not be okay; but you do not have to face life’s challenges alone. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I believe counseling should be a supportive and compassionate collaboration in which clients are accepted where they are in the present and are valued as the experts of their experiences. Life doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and I will work closely with individuals to consider their relationship with their environments in order to explore areas of strength as well as areas for potential growth.

I believe that my most important asset as a therapist is my calm and balanced presence; I am an effective sounding board for self-discovery and exploration. Entering therapy is a risk. Knowing this, I focus on creating a safe and non-judgmental environment with a collaborative approach. Our relationships with ourselves, our families, support systems, partners, and others are the primary way that we ground ourselves and make sense of our environments. Therapy is an opportunity to use the power of relationship to heal. I look forward to walking with you on your journey.

My ideal client is someone who is looking to make changes in their life. This client may be someone who wants to break the cycle of generational trauma; perhaps they struggle with feelings of inadequacy, shame, low self-esteem, resentment, depression, or anxiety. They need someone who will not just listen to them but truly hear them, connect with them, and provide a space free of judgment to work towards their goals. Their goals might include processing trauma, finding a sense of peace, gaining alternative perspectives, or finding courage and positive self-esteem as they bravely heal.

In our journey through life, we often encounter past experiences that profoundly influence our current perceptions of ourselves. While life involves moments of suffering, I believe that finding support during these times can empower us on our path to healing. I strongly believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship, as this connection can reveal to us the truth of our innate worth and wholeness.

If you struggle with eating disorders, disordered eating, and/or trauma and would like to begin or continue on your healing journey, I would like to be with you on that journey. Not all professionals believe it is possible to no longer have PTSD or eating disorders; however, I have helped many individuals do just this. Healing does take time and a lot of work and determination, if this is you, I would be honored to accompany you on this healing journey.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
