In this life, there will be struggles and challenges, but be encouraged, you do not have to face them alone. Support is here. I would count it a privilege to walk with you as you face a crisis, cope with a life transition, manage stress, anxiety, or grief, and/or seek spiritual direction.

My counseling philosophy is person centered, holistic and existential. I believe that - Life is a process of moving towards wholeness.... Our brokenness is the basic human dlemma and each person's story is unique... It is because of this uniqueness that we all encounter different paths.... Empowering clients and helping them to move forward involves many paths also - from cogntive, behavioral, solution focused, humanistic, psychodynamic to marriage & family therapy ... and all are essential in meeting the client "where they are" and helping them to move forward.

People seek therapy for variety of reasons, ranging from difficulties with a specific life event or a general pursuit for greater purpose and connectedness. Psychotherapy offers an arena for self exploration unlike any other and can prove to be a profoundly moving experience. I work with individuals affected by trauma, difficulties in relationships, depression/post-partum depression, infertility, adoption, parenting , struggles in cultural adaptation and immigration, identity, self-esteem, sexuality, etc. Often I find that the most meaningful change comes from those who are open and willing to engage in the journey. The change you seek comes from you and will be our guiding force.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I work with those in the role of parenting children as well as the family as a unit. Oftentimes, children are identified as needing support before the whole family. Helping families through the demanding aspects of parenting as well as the difficulties in family dynamics that exist within family systems are often the focus of therapy. Empowering and learning how to strengthen the bonds and relationships between children and parenting figures are of the utmost importance in creating emotionally healthy, and successful adults.

Consistent collaborative caregiver/ parent -work is critical in treating childhood issues.
Do you survive or thrive? Your relationship with yourself is reflected in interactions with family, friends, colleagues, professional life and your worldview. How do you seek, expect and provide attunement to yourself and important others? Often unrecognized inter-generational relational themes play a part in the manner of which one seeks connection. Attachment and relational patterns meant to gain closeness can mean one feels known & accepted or invisible & rejected. You can learn to listen to yourself with open-minded curiosity in order to identify your relational style, understanding how it supports or hinders you in life.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
