I work best with people who are ready to do the work—not because change is easy, but because there’s unfortunately no shortcut, life hack, or inspirational quote that can do it for you. I enjoy working with teens and adults navigating grief, unexpected transitions, and the many ways life likes to rewrite the script without asking permission. In our work together, you set the goals, and I help you move toward them.

If life feels heavy, overwhelming, or like you’ve been carrying too much on your own, you’re not alone. I work with teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or just feeling stuck and unsure of what’s next. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. In our work together, you’ll have a calm, supportive space where you can finally exhale, feel heard without judgment, and start making sense of what you’re going through. We’ll work together at your pace to help you feel more grounded, understood, and confident.

I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and learn. Friends and family are great support at times, but sometimes people can benefit from more. I often tell people therapy is a little bit like having a coach. It is someone to set goals with, someone to hold you accountable, someone to cheer you on and help you navigate the road map of life. It is my goal to help you get on the track that is best suited for you and your family, and come up with a plan to help you stay the course!

In my play room, I implement Child Centered Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Focused activities, Parent Training, PCIT and when appropriate, a more directive approach.
Play is the place where children’s minds, hearts, and souls meet. Through Play Therapy, children are able to heal from distressing events such as, but not limited to, trauma, grief and loss, divorce, depression, adoption, foster care and attachment issues; and to improve in myriad areas such as impulse control, emotional regulation, ADHD, OCD, and ODD. As your child’s therapist, my goal is to enable children to heal, so that they are empowered to “rise and shine” to their highest potential.

I take care to include families in the therapy process to empower parents and enhance parenting resources.
I operate from a trauma-informed and person centered therapy approach with individuals of all ages, with a specialty in play therapy for children who have experienced trauma or complex stressful experiences. This means that I believe each individual has what it takes within them to be in charge of their own healing, and some people just need help along the way. That also means that you get to come exactly as you are and be accepted and cared for. We will take time to build a positive and authentic therapeutic relationship, which will hold the healing powers of safety and connection.

I work with many clients struggling with one or more relationships in their lives - with their parents, spouse, family, peers, etc.
Hi, I'm Mandy! Life can be a lot to handle on your own, and I'm here to help. I tend to be a good fit for clients looking for a space to process/organize their thoughts and feelings, or those seeking a more informal therapeutic experience. I view therapy as a partnership, and while I've got some tips and tricks to help you start feeling more in control and less stressed, you are the expert on you. We'll work at your pace, talking through the things you feel are most important - and it's okay if that's not the same thing from week to week. Healing isn't linear; we'll celebrate your successes no matter how big or small!

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
