Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists in Des Peres, MO
When life’s difficulties pile up, they can quietly carry us further from the person we want to be, until it all feels overwhelming. Though subtle, the relationship we hold with ourselves—particularly our emotions—is often the key to experiencing a genuine sense of happiness and fulfillment. I seek to support my clients in experiencing life from a more empowered stance, one that can be difficult to access when feeling buried by a traumatic past or even a traumatic present.

We’ll use CBT to reframe loud, unhelpful thoughts, while ACT helps you accept difficult feelings so they no longer hold you back.
Life can get messy, and sometimes the ways we’ve learned to "just get through it" leave us feeling stuck or disconnected from what is actually important to us. Whether you're navigating rocky relationships, struggling to set boundaries, or facing a major career shift, I want you to know you don't have to figure it out alone. These challenges often tell us that our old coping tools just don't fit our life anymore. I meet my clients where they are—no judgment, just support. Together, we’ll make sense of the chaos, build the practical skills you need to feel like yourself again, and find a path toward the life you truly want to live.

I blend Clinical therapies ( ACT, CBT, DBT) with Sport Psychology to treat the whole person.
Are you a driven individual feeling held back by mental blocks, stress, or the weight of expectation? My clients typically face one of three scenarios:
Clinical Struggle: You are battling anxiety, depression, or relationship issues that negatively impact your daily life, school, or work.
Performance Focus: You are physically healthy, but your mindset impacts your execution. You are looking to "level up" your psychological skills.
The "Gap" Problem: Anxiety sabotages your performance, or an injury triggered depression. Therapists don't understand your drive, and coaches lack clinical skills.

Many individuals suffer under the heaviness of their anger, sadness, fear, and pain; others battle to feel anything at all. Self-esteem, relationships, or work can suffer when early cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns are applied to new situations. Although it may be intimidating, exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences within the context of a safe therapeutic relationship can increase your awareness and perception of control over your internal world. Throughout the therapeutic process, you will find your strength, resilience, purpose, and, ultimately, your freedom to shape your external world more effectively.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
