I can provide professional clinical supervision to provisionally licensed therapists & those seeking DBT certification.
Life is a journey, a journey that is most difficult when traveled alone. I strive to walk with clients on their path towards healing and happiness. Working from a client-centered approach, it is essential for me to understand each client as an individual to develop trust and a partnership in therapy. Relationships, trauma, careers and other stressors take a toll on a person's ability to flourish. I believe that each person has potential for growth from those experiences. My goal is to help you regain your footing on your path to living a full and vibrant life.

Being a human is hard sometimes; especially if we were not taught the skills needed to successfully navigate through life. Many people have not been excused from experiencing life issues, and partnering in therapy can be a great way to explore life moments in a safe and confidential manner. I specialize in EMDR, a form of therapy that helps reduce emotional intensities brought about from unprocessed past experiences. I also utilize DBT, a skills-based form of therapy that teaches mindfulness, skills to help regulate emotions, relationship skills, and strategies to tolerate distressing situations.

I utilize CBT and DBT modalities with training in EMDR.
My ideal client is someone who is desiring to actively participate in therapy. Your issues, needs, and goals can be discussed in session, so you have direction during the therapeutic process. You might not know what you want or why, and that is okay. All you have to do is show up & participate. Your sessions are your time to discover the answers to those questions & hopefully piece together information to help your present-day self.

I use an integrative and holistic approach to my work, taking necessary tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Somatic Experience Therapy (body-mind therapy for individuals with trauma).
My favorite moments as a therapist are when clients realize they are allowed to be happy as their authentic selves. I love to witness folks learning to truly love themselves in all phases of life.

My expertise in CBT, DBT, and Somatic Therapy will teach you skills to manage your emotions instead of being managed by them.
Dealing with your trauma has been draining and exhausting. The painful experiences have brought you depression and grief. The anxiety has turned into insomnia and fatigue. Not only have you been enduring this alone, but you have also been undervalued and criticized by your loved ones. It’s been so hard to receive such negative feedback that it has inflicted tension and pain on your body. Intrusive thoughts have taken over your mind. “I can’t stand this anymore! What am I doing wrong? I am so frustrated I can't think straight!" Your relationships have been struggling. People have lost trust in you. You’ve lost trust in people.

Providing a safe space, being entrusted with vulnerability, and bearing witness to healing is an awe inspiring and mutually rewarding experience. Therefore, a good relationship is the first priority in therapy. Christine realizes that successful treatment begins with a strong therapeutic rapport. This focus allows clients to feel safe and understood, which is a strong catalyst for progress towards healing and achieving goals. Positive results can only occur once a therapeutic alliance is developed.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
