I work with adults ages 18+ who want help with anxiety, depression, trauma (shock trauma and developmental trauma), CPTSD, grief and loss, women's issues, and life transitions.
If you're hoping to get unstuck from the past, move out of survival mode, and figure out how to thrive, please reach out! I'll help assess what's stuck, work with you to get unstuck, and collaborate with you to change and grow. I also really enjoy working with people who are ready to try EMDR (either as a primary approach or in conjunction with talk therapy, depending on your needs).

Do you experience chronic trust issues, worry, irrational fears or a profound sense of loneliness? Do you have unexplainable triggers that cause feelings of panic, fear, or anger? Do you continue to feel stuck in the same patterns of thinking and reacting? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be experiencing the effects from unresolved trauma.

There’s a voice in your head that constantly berates you. It endlessly echos the phrase “not good enough”, no matter how hard you try. You’re a grown adult and yet some people and situations make you feel like an anxious child. Perhaps you feel guilty even though you can’t recall doing anything wrong, which leads you to walk on eggshells in the face of conflict. Or maybe you feel like you're constantly self-sabotaging by pushing others away because you’re afraid of being abandoned. It seems like your body has two settings, you’re either on-edge or completely shut down. Life like this is exhausting, but you can't seem to get unstuck.

I specialize in responding to a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, coping with loss, self esteem, suicidal ideation, identity issues, and divorce.
My focus is to help youth and teens uncover what they already possess--highlighting their strengths, resilience, and ability to cope with life. Together, your child, your family, and I will work to make sense of troubling experiences and identify and learn coping strategies that allow my clients to realize the power they have in themselves. Using play based interventions, children can communicate their inner world in a way that is natural and feels comfortable to them. Using sand tray, expressive arts, and games, play provides a concrete, action-oriented way for children to work through what they are going through.

I work with individuals with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief/loss and relationship difficulties.
I am an experienced therapist working from a psychodynamic perspective. That means I want to not only understand what issue or problem brings you to my office, but understand its origin and history. I also believe the greatest healing in therapy occurs in the connection and relationship between you and me.

Are you tired of anxiety getting in the way of living your life to fullest? Anxiety can feel debilitating in the enjoyment of our relationships and life in general. While anxiety is a fact of life, it doesn't have to dominate your life. I use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, an evidenced based treatment for anxiety, to help you find new ways of managing anxiety so that you can live the life you want. Tired of finding yourself in dead end relationships? Maybe you've sworn off dating a certain "type" of person, but you seem to repeat the same relationship patterns.

I specialize in working with successful professionals who experience depression, anxiety, and relationship problems.
Everyone thinks you have it all all together, but inside it feels like you're spinning out of control. You can’t stay focused. Simple tasks that should be easy feel totally overwhelming and you've started avoiding them completely. Your relationships are suffering and you feel like it’s all your fault. You want to be easy-going and caring, but you're impatient and irritable. You want to be sociable and fun, but you're withdrawn and depressed. The fear of being exposed as a fraud looms over you constantly. You’re hanging on by a thread and it's only getting worse.

I frequently work with people who have a lot of moving parts in their lives. Whether you’re navigating traumatic experiences, exploring components of identity, or wading through overwhelming seasons of life in other ways, my goal is to help you sift through it all and provide support to process at your own pace. I'm comfortable navigating many of the other pieces that come with trauma or overwhelm - managing episodes of depression, mitigating anxiety, and creating spaces that make life feel worth living.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
