When working with individuals I maintain an attachment lens, while utilizing a combination of narrative/story work, parts work (Internal Family systems), and somatic based interventions to provide holistic healing.
I am a passionate and dedicated counselor who longs to see healing and redemption in the lives of the wounded and the broken. My clients are those who have experienced trauma, abuse, and suffering resulting in anxiety, depression, dissociation, addictions, eating disorders, mood disorders, and more. My clients often have little awareness of just how resilient and courageous they are, but enduring and surviving trauma is not an easy thing. It is my greatest honor to walk alongside survivors as they fight for hope and healing and learn to view themselves in a new and beautiful light.

My methods include Somatic Experiencing – a body-centered approach that addresses physiological dysregulation resulting from trauma, EMDR – which works with the brain’s natural healing mechanisms to reprocess traumatic experiences.
Heather (she/her) practices a holistic approach when working with clients. She desires for every client to know they have a voice, and their story is important. Heather offers a safe place where clients can find authentic healing by engaging with their story and helping their mind and body to recognize that the old threat has passed. It is safe to live in the present reality. Heather walks with clients to help them understand, experience, and accept the reality of life – with all of its desires and sorrows – and leads them to a life of healing and flourishing.

My work blends deep attunement with practical tools rooted in relational, somatic, parts-based work, and insight-oriented therapy so you not only understand what’s happening but experience relief and real change.
If you’re overwhelmed by worry, stuck in family cycles that don’t shift, or trying to support a child who feels misunderstood—this is a space where you are heard, held, and supported. I help kids, teens, and parents move past anxiety, burnout, and conflict to feel more regulated, grounded, and connected. Whether it’s school stress, ADHD challenges, family tension, or navigating IEP/504 with confidence, I meet you where you are. My work is also with parents who want to interrupt generational trauma and become a more grounded, attuned presence for their children. When adults heal, entire family systems shift.

To the rest of the world, you're perfectly put together. But on the inside, you feel like a tangled mess. You can't quite put your finger on it, but something's felt off for a while now. You feel controlled by your emotions and overwhelmed by the pressure to be the superwoman that everyone else thinks you are. But you and I both know the superwoman thing is getting pretty damn exhausting. Beneath that perfectly-put-together exterior, you're stuck in a tangled knot of old wounds that have never quite healed, the constant self-doubt that never seems to quiet, and the unrelenting pressure to be everything to everyone.

I integrate the use of IFS, mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and trauma-informed approaches to help clients bring together parts, pieces, and reactions to their life around them to build self-awareness, evaluate responses, and help clients attune to internal knowledge and wisdom.
Pain, trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and adverse childhood experiences can make joy hard to find. They can shape how you see yourself, place strain on your relationships, and leave you feeling disconnected from the world around you. They can take away light, laughter, and love. You find yourself wanting to change but you might be hesitant about starting therapy, especially when just getting through the day already feels like a lot. It might be hard to imagine that anything can be different at all. You might've even tried therapy before, and you're wanting to get back into caring for you. You seek to be understood, to be known.

My approach to therapy combines traditional talk therapy alongside Somatic Experiencing.
I value the counseling setting as a place to discuss all thoughts and feelings freely and without fear of judgment so that new associations can be made, and emotional isolation can be replaced with connection.

As a Somatic Experiencing (SE) Practitioner in training, I support SE's creative and more deeply effective ways of treating trauma.
If you're reading this, here are some of the thoughts you might be experiencing: "I am tired of feeling this way," "I know there's something better in life than this," "My body feels completely out of control and caught in an anxious/depressive cycle," "I want to be free of this fear and step into peace and clarity," "I seem to have this chronic pain or body disposition that doesn't make sense and I don't enjoy; it might be connected to something that happened to me..." If one or more of these thoughts just won't go away, it may be time to get some therapeutic support.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
