I work collaboratively with my clients to establish their goals, their treatment plan, and how we will work together. One of my main priorities is to establish and maintain an environment conducive to your growth. I aim to make sessions productive through our strong relationship and treatment practices supported by research. As someone with marginalized identities, I am particularly interested in working with folks around race, gender identity, sexual orientation, kink, and nonmonogamy. However, I love to meet and work with all.

I also have experience with depression, anxiety, substance use, military families, sexuality and sexual health, emetophobia (phobia of vomit), phase-of-life challenges, uncertainty/anxiety about the future, kink/BDSM, and partner conflict/miscommunication.
I believe the single most important component of therapy is the unique and authentic relationship that is forged between therapist and client. Beyond this, my therapeutic approach is guided primarily by cognitive behavioral therapy, existentialism, and feminist therapy which together encourage empowerment, responsibility, authenticity, and acceptance.

If you’re reading this, you’re likely experiencing a tough time in life. I want to be there to make sure you don’t have to go through it alone. My approach focuses on guiding clients to confront and understand the difficult parts of themselves rather than trying to eliminate them. Whether dealing with trauma, marital conflict, or a child’s challenging behavior, I believe that meaningful change comes from learning to work with these 'difficult' parts. Every aspect of ourselves has a purpose, even if it no longer serves us. There is no such thing as a bad part of us. Together, we can explore these aspects to foster healing and growth.

I like to do relational work with partners and individuals--trying to navigate how to be in relationship with others can be really stressful and feel impossible. Common issues I work with are boundaries, communication, infidelity, maternal mental health, new parenting dynamics, self-esteem, family-of-origin issues, deconstructing and reconstructing faith, tools for a better relationship, and small "t" and big "T" traumas.

I have a master's level certificate in sex therapy and can work with clients throughout Minnesota.
Melding my experience in small business, non-profit organizations, and coaching, I am at home with a broad range of individuals of varied backgrounds. I am passionate about relationships and development, and have been told I have a knack for pressing gently but firmly into the rough spaces around seasons of change. I find great joy in helping people lean into the transitional moments of life and find meaning in the ‘stuck' places so they can grow, learn and heal. I tend to bring practical tools to sessions to help my clients build the skills they need to get healed and get on with life and relationships.

As a therapist, creative, entrepreneur, sex educator (and many other hats!) I will bring my whole self and experiences to be a grounded, intuitive & guiding presence for you as we work together to find the unique direction for your personal growth and healing.
I work with people who want to show up in the world and be embraced for ALL of who they are. Most of us have things that we keep hidden from others around us - locked away because we are worried that we are broken, weird, fearful of how we will be judged. The problem is, even when we are great at hiding - these things slowly but surely permeate our lives from the inside out. Everyone around you thinks you've got it all together, but on the inside - you know something is off, and you're ready to figure it out and do something different. You're ready to be honest and curious and make a change - to find YOUR courageous truth.

It’s difficult enough to figure out what you want. But saying it out loud to a partner? That can be even scarier. What if we don’t want the same things? Or, worse still, what if I hurt them? Does any of this sound familiar? Many people live in silence to avoid the pain of hurting another. But at some point that backs up on you. Therapy is your place to give voice to those feelings and decide what, if anything, you want to do with them..

I also am a sex positive therapist and work with a variety of sexual concerns including mismatched desire, pain with sex, low desire, etc.
You don’t have to go through this alone. If anxiety feels like it’s always in the background — affecting your relationships, your sense of safety, or how connected you feel to yourself, you’re not broken, and you’re not failing. Reaching out for support is already a meaningful first step. Many of the people I work with feel anxious, stuck, or disconnected — from their bodies, their partners, or their sense of ease in everyday life. You may notice anxiety showing up in relationships or intimacy, making closeness feel stressful, confusing, or out of reach. Together, we create a space where you can slow down and reconnect.

Sex Therapy Therapists
Who is sex therapy for?
Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?
Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?
People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?
Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
