I utilize empirically supported treatments such as Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Behavior Analysis, SPACE, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and much more in order to help client’s expand their coping strategies and increase their ability to reach desired goals.
I specialize in helping children, teens, and adults increase their emotional and behavioral regulation for anxiety disorders, OCD, and early childhood behavioral challenges. Through a collaborative approach, I provide individual therapy with the child, while also involving parents in the process to provide parents with the tools to support their child/teen. My collaborative, relational, playful, light-hearted style allows me to develop a warm, compassionate therapeutic relationship with every client, which creates a safe environment for children, teens, and adults to learn the skills to manage daily life experiences.

I provide parent coaching to aid parents in becoming coaches rather than adversaries to their kids.
Do you feel stuck and unsure how to move forward? We all have the ability to change our situations or the way we handle them, we just need a little hope. I love coming alongside people who are struggling and helping them to see the light at the end of the tunnel. From coloring and play therapy to exploring the past, challenging beliefs, or sitting with you in your pain--I have a passion for hurting people. I'd love to walk with you through shame and conflict in your life and help you find meaning and hope.

Examples include mediation with parents to develop parenting plans sensitive to their children's developmental stages; parenting coaching to reduce conflict during and after divorce; and parenting consulting to address co-parenting needs, to develop agreements, and to make parenting decisions.
My approach to therapy has been informed by my work with individuals, couples and families who have experienced varied and unique challenges. Despite these differences, there are common themes and desires: a sense of security and personal growth, resolving conflict, and building love and respect in marriages or other intimate relationships. Parents seek to manage modern pressures, multiple demands, and opportunities for their children. For those parents with scheduled parenting time, they seek a shared vision of their children's best interest - and shared goals in preparing their kids to meet life's obstacles with determination and resilience.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
