Life is not always easy. Add in a global pandemic, community uprise, and our ongoing political environment, and some days it feels impossible. I get it, and want to be a source of reprieve. My goal is to help you create a better relationship with yourself whereby creating better relationships in the rest of your life. I believe that all of us need a person to talk to that has no bias or judgement in regards to what we are facing. I want to 'dig deep' so to speak and get to the root of what is stopping you from living your best life.

I work with individuals, couples and families who are interested in improving the quality of their daily life. Often this works includes attention to anxiety and/or depression, relationship challenges, or life transitions. My work is thoughtfully designed for each client and situation. Some clients choose to work on one specific challenge at a time, on an as-needed basis. Others take a broader approach and explore themes that have challenged them over a long period of time.

My area of expertise is in recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues. I believe that substance use is a biopsychosocial phenomenon. Substance use roots are in our biology, in our mind processes and in our relationships with others. My clients are the experts on themselves and I feel that on a journey together, using my clinical expertise, we can better align your behaviors with your values.

The world is a more complicated place to live. I think those seeking therapy are trying to make sense of a world in which the rules have changed. I am a seasoned therapist who has experienced life, is human and can teach without preaching. I believe clients want to feel better, want to make sense of their past, not be buried or defined by it.Clients deserve a therapist who can create a safe, non judgmental environment to explore. They deserve a therapist who can foster trust in themselves, who will push but with compassion and safety.

I specialize in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and OCD, including Pure O. I am passionate about the specific type of CBT that I practice because it offers relief to patients who have been in other types of therapy for years without significant progress. My approach to treatment, known as Rumination-Focused ERP (Exposure with Response Prevention), is a time-limited, highly systematic, yet gentler approach to exposure. I am passionate about making sure people know they don’t have to deal with all of life’s twists and turns on their own. Whether you’re experiencing a particularly stressful season or you’re looking to heal from something you’ve been carrying for a long time, I believe we can work through it together. I provide a non-judgmental, relaxed environment in which you can unpack what’s on your mind, explore unhelpful thought/behavior patterns, and grow in your confidence to challenge them.

I believe that most destructive beliefs and behaviors are rooted in the less than nurturing events we experience over the course of our life. Welcome to the human condition! Many of us can benefit from learning how to manage our human experience in healthier, constructive ways that promote growth and personal evolution. I believe in utilizing the brain's neuroplasticity and activating our innate capacity to heal to increase and strengthen positive, growth inspiring beliefs and behaviors.

This is not how it’s supposed to be. Tuning out the pain works some days. Others, it is relentless, overwhelming. It can hurt to blink. Thank goodness there’s work. the kids. the dog. They give a reason to get out of bed – avoid the guilt. No one understands. Going along with my boss or partner seems so simple at the time - until it turns sour. Irritability comes out of nowhere. Snap! Then crash! At least social distancing makes isolating more acceptable. It’s all so exhausting. Like having the gas pedal and the brake to the floor, at the same time. ‘Coping’ and ‘managing’ are a joke. Is relief too much to ask?!

As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) specialist, I work with those who have experienced trauma and the symptoms that arise from it. Struggles with relationships, a lack of motivation, and difficulties in navigating day to day challenges arise when past or present traumatic events make it hard to see progress. I can help you better understand why you may feel hopeless, sad or anxious by helping you to examine and process trauma. To get started, I offer a free 30-minute consultation for prospective clients to help determine if we might be a good fit.
