Hope and optimism can feel like they are far, far away when you are in the midst of chronic depression. A day without depression is a huge change in some people's lives.
Mental health treatment can bring optimism in the midst of pessimism and darkness. Psychotherapy introduces tools to help you cope with the exhaustion of emptiness and frustration of social anxiety. Whether your issues are related to depression or dysfunctional relationship patterns, there is hope.

Investing in yourself is crucial. Life's busyness often leads to neglecting personal growth. You may have prioritized others to the point of depleting your own reserves. When inevitable issues arise, it can feel overwhelming. However, it doesn't need to be this way. Focusing on self-improvement can actually make you more present for those you care about. Therapy is a commitment to invest time, energy, and resources into bettering your life, moving you out of constant crisis mode. By working together, you'll find that while daily demands remain the same, your ability to handle them improves, reducing life's stress.

Since 2019, I have helped rural women and girls feel secured in their own self image and authentically seen within personal and professional relationships.
You want support and balance. Overthinking and overdoing, anxiety has control. Feelings of inadequacy makes you wonder, "will I ever be enough?" Attempting to measure up to all the expectations around you is overwhelmingly exhausting. Do better, try harder, don’t give up. "I have to succeed." Small mistakes feel big, rejection feels inevitable, and the fight to prove yourself is endless. All you want is to be seen and accepted by your friends and family. Annoyed, sad, and worried; you're burnt out. Critical self thoughts and hurtful judgement become intolerable; you feel alone and misunderstood.

Watching someone you love struggle can be painful. It can be hard to watch someone you love experience the ups and downs of entering recovery and then falling back into old behavior patterns. They can get caught up in their head looking for the perfect answer – or any answer – to solve their problems. Often people find themselves in an uncomfortable limbo of not knowing what to do in those moments of struggle. These are the moments that a professional outside the situation can provide a space for you to reflect and explore how to create a life with less pain and more joy.

I have a special interest but not limited to women's issues, PTSD and trauma, and healthy relationships.
I believe that the foundation of growth begins within the relationship between individual and therapist. The desire to feel seen, heard, and understood is universal and is an essential part of our overall well-being. I celebrate the courage of individuals who take steps into healing by engaging in the therapeutic process to manifest the life they desire. I am passionate about working together to ensure that you become an expert on yourself and believe in your own insight, strength, and self awareness. I believe that humor and laughter bring out our authentic selves and utilize this philosophy in my work.

I believe all people have inherent strength, wisdom, and worthiness. Yet sometimes we find ourselves stuck, lost, bereft, or confused. In childhood, we sensibly develop habits that get us through particular circumstances, but sometimes we outgrow those habits and are not sure how else to live. Therapy can help us more fully understand these patterns and learn new ways of being. Through therapy, we can actively choose how we want to live and relate to others.

I believe therapy to be a creative and dynamic process, one that explores and honors your inherent wisdom, expertise and intuition about life. My part in your journey is to support, encourage and sometimes gently challenge you to see clearly the truth about your history and its relationship to your current struggles. I strive to be attuned to issues of injustice including those related to: class, race, gender, sexual orientation and religious oppression. This endeavor called therapy is best served when we knit it together with mystery, stories, poetry and laughter.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
