Many of the individuals I work with struggle with managing daily life stressors. This may be due to experiencing a traumatic childhood, recovering from a recent traumatic event, or having trouble juggling the demands placed on them. Many people find themselves stuck or “going through the motions” and are looking for validation that they are not alone as well as help with finding hope and a purpose in their lives.

I am practiced in relational and complex trauma therapy, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT/KAP), Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy (IFOT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in combination with somatic experiencing, psychedelic integration therapy, guided imagery, nature-based healing and mindfulness.
Relationships are a vital part of all life. We learn about ourselves, others, & the world around us through our relationships. Trauma, oppression, abuse, emotional wounds, grief/loss & many other challenges can be overwhelming, create disconnection, & leave us feeling hopeless. Under certain conditions those challenges can offer us a place from where we can learn, heal, & grow. This process is not linear and is unique to each of us. I'm dedicated to creatively collaborating with you to bring more ease and authenticity into your life & relationships.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems, & Somatic Experiencing with IFS serving as the primary framework, guiding my work.
You’re a therapist or helping professional who appears capable and put-together on the outside—but inside you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. You may struggle with chronic self-criticism, perfectionism, or a sense that you’re always in survival mode. Even though you understand the language of mental health, something still feels unresolved. You don’t want quick fixes or surface-level coping strategies—you want to get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck.

I often integrate trauma-informed and somatic work into my practice.
If you are seeking accessible, collaborative, and affirming therapy you're in the right place. Grounded in my experience of therapy's transformative potential, I work alongside clients to explore growth, healing, and connection. I believe that therapy is for everyone especially when approached with openness, curiosity, and a clear sense of purpose.

As a Clinical Social Worker with 30 years experience, my treatment philosophy is based in partnering with my clients in identifying and addressing their needs in ways that are relevant to them. I encourage a dialogue in which I meet the client wherever they might be emotionally and spiritually and then together, we explore the issues that led them to therapy in the first place. My job is to create a space in which my client feels safe to say things they may be afraid to say to others and to feel emotions that seem overwhelming elsewhere.

Our minds and bodies are the sacred lands of our experiences, containing forests of stories, shifting winds, rivers of emotions, and fields of sensations, ranging from painful to pleasureful. When the landscape is disturbed by stress and trauma, the ecosystem shifts out of balance toward pain. By skillfully bringing mind and body together, with the heart of altruistic intention to improve our lives for ourselves and others, we gain capacity to navigate with clarity, calm inner storms, heal rifts, and drink from the waters of fresh perceptions. Through deep listening, movement, attention, and imagination, insight dawns.

I believe each of us already holds the keys to our highest good. I have helped a range of people, men, women, teens, and members of the LGBTQ community, examine their lives from new perspectives and discover new solutions. Getting to the root of the problem is key to transformation (not just managing symptoms).

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
