Family Therapists in Virginia, MN
Because I’ve worked in both medical and school environments, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when life challenges stack up—whether that’s health issues, family stress, or emotional burnout.
I hold a certification in TF-CBT- This is an evince-based practice that works with children ages 3-18 who have experiences a traumatic event as well as their caregivers. The combines CBT and Trauma sensitive approaches.
I also deliver services with a recovery orientated lens while using an attachment and internal family systems lens.

Managing emotion, processing change, anxiety, depression, family conflict, grief, health concerns, managing mania/hypomania, and reducing panic, stress, and the impact of trauma.
Many of the individuals I work with struggle with managing daily life stressors. This may be due to experiencing a traumatic childhood, recovering from a recent traumatic event, or having trouble juggling the demands placed on them. Many people find themselves stuck or “going through the motions” and are looking for validation that they are not alone as well as help with finding hope and a purpose in their lives.

I have over 13 years experience in the mental health field working with adults, teens, and children/ families of diverse backgrounds and living situations.
I have worked with adults, adolescents, elders and children. I am comfortable working with anyone, but especially people who have experienced trauma, are in crisis, are struggling with substance use, are LGBTQ+, are Indigenous, are Autistic, have ADHD, or have Borderline Personality Disorder to name a few. While we are each unique communities, I have found myself to be well atuned to the needs and goals of my Indigenous clients as I am indigenous myself and get to practice my culture. My clients' goals usually include an increased feeling of security/safety, community integration, & relationship or interpersonal effectiveness.

Well was created with the purpose of helping individuals, couples, and families grow independently and as a whole.
We believe therapy ought to be a place of vulnerability, acceptance, growth, and a process of discovering who we are. As therapists we recognize each person as an individual with their own story, beliefs, and obstacles, and our intention is to both see you in this light and guide you through this experience.

Many of my clients are accomplished people — individuals, couples, and families — who find themselves quietly unsettled despite doing everything right.
My work is grounded in a humanistic, insight-oriented approach. Rather than focusing on labels or symptom management, we explore what's driving the experience — the patterns, the meaning, and what you actually want. I also offer Brainspotting, a body-based method that can reach what words alone sometimes cannot.

FAQ - About Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
