Many of the individuals I work with struggle with managing daily life stressors. This may be due to experiencing a traumatic childhood, recovering from a recent traumatic event, or having trouble juggling the demands placed on them. Many people find themselves stuck or “going through the motions” and are looking for validation that they are not alone as well as help with finding hope and a purpose in their lives.

You feel like it's all on your shoulders and you're constantly failing. You're used to making things happen, but inside you feel lonely, anxious, and like a shell of a person. You grew up in a family where there was some love but asking for help is still so hard... you feel like a burden. Even now, with all you've done, you people-please, overthink every decision, and feel like you're never enough. You desperately want peace and energy... to feel whole, confident, and full of vitality again. If you're ready to go deeper than talk therapy and make real changes to how you live, sleep, eat, and connect, I'm here to help.

Well was created with the purpose of helping individuals, couples, and families grow independently and as a whole.  We realize that life has its challenges and can sometimes feel overwhelming and unrelenting, which may leave us feeling hopeless.  Other times life may have us feeling stuck and needing someone to walk along side us as we seek understanding.

There are many transitions in life. Sometimes we need help navigating those transitions. My favorite quote is , "Where there is a Will there is a Way." Taking the first step with attending therapy just takes Will to find your Way. I profoundly believe in forming a strong therapeutic relationship and hope to utilize various theoretical skills to meet the unique needs of each client and their family. I enjoy working with children, adults, couples and families from all stages in life.

Evening Sessions Available! Based conveniently in Duluth, offering in-person sessions locally while also serving clients across Minnesota through telehealth. With over two decades of experience working with individuals and relationships in moments of transition, I bring clarity, direction, and a steady presence to the work we do together. Many people come to therapy searching for the “why” behind their distress. While understanding matters, my approach focuses on something more immediate and powerful. We identify the life you want to live and begin actively moving you toward it.

I've been working with adults and teens for over 49 years. My approach is empathic, direct, and thoughtful. Given I have a wide background in my training, I adapt my therapeutic approach to your needs. I find that effective therapy is a collaborative approach where we work together to understand your concerns, their origins and most importantly what can be done to bring about both the internal and behavioral changes that will be beneficial to you. My goal in therapy is to help integrate your shame and vulnerabilities into a healthy identity grounded in self-esteem and pride.

Accepting new clients! You’re doing your best to keep it all together — working hard, keeping up with life’s demands, and showing up for everyone who depends on you. From the outside, it looks like you are doing just fine. But inside, you feel anxious, overwhelmed, and exhausted. You keep pushing through, but deep down, there is a sense of disconnection and unfulfillment you can’t quite explain. You’ve considered therapy, but a part of you feels guilty reaching out for support. You compare your struggles to what others are facing and tell yourself you “should be fine,” that you have plenty to be grateful for.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
